What do we have in the Poker Night 2 pot?

Posted on April 2013 by TelltaleGames

Winning is good, but what good is being Pockets McMoneybags in Poker Night 2 if you can't show off your imaginary wealth? Worry not! In-game unlock rewards mean you can deck the entire Inventory in the theme of your choosing - Portal, Borderlands, The Venture Bros., Army of Darkness or Sam & Max - so you can rub your winnings in those losers' faces!

Of course, in-game unlocks are fine and dandy, but you can also show off your elite pokering skills in other games and other places. Depending on the platform you're playing on, you can win and unlock cool stuff for Borderlands 2 (consoles/Steam), Team Fortress 2 (Steam only), Avatar Items for Xbox 360, or some sweet (and completely exclusive) PlayStation 3 themes.

The Unlocks Showcase trailer here explains it all, and features a few more sneak peeks at what we'll see at the Inventory in Poker Night 2!

Poker Night 2 ups the ante in April

Posted on April 2013 by TelltaleGames

This is no bluff - Poker Night 2 is coming in April! Some of the biggest personalities in gaming, film, and animation are going all-in on XBLA, PSN, PC and Mac.

Taking the fifth seat at the table, players will be joined by an all-star cast:

  • Claptrap from Gearbox Software's critically-acclaimed and multi-million selling Borderlands video game series

  • Brock Samson from Adult Swim's animated series The Venture Bros.

  • Sam from the Sam & Max video game and comic book series by Steve Purcell

  • Ash Williams from the cult classic movie Army of Darkness. Groovy!

Players at the table will be assured of a fair hand dealt under the unblinking gaze of a Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System from Aperture Science research facilities, otherwise known as GLaDOS (from the Portal video game series by Valve)!

Poker Night 2 will also offer the chance to win 'Bounty Unlocks': rewards for use within other games when special goals are achieved. With cunning and skill, you can unlock prizes including exclusive skins and heads for use within Borderlands 2 (Xbox 360, PS3 and PC), character accessories for Team Fortress 2 (PC only), unique Xbox 360 Avatar Items, and Premium Themes for dressing up PlayStation 3.

The Wolf Among Us is unleashed this summer

Posted on March 2013 by TelltaleGames

We've been keeping this one under wraps for a while, and today we're excited to announce that Telltale unleashes The Wolf Among Us this summer! Based on Bill Willingham's award-winning comic book series FABLES, the season will debut on XBLA, PSN, PC and Mac.

A consistent New York Times bestseller and winner of over a dozen Eisner awards, the FABLES universe has become one of the richest mythologies in comics. Storybook characters like Snow White, The Big Bad Wolf and Pinocchio are real, and living incognito among us in the mundane ("mundy") world. Of course, their heritage means they are not quite like us...

Set prior to the events in the first issue in the comic book series, The Wolf Among Us puts players in the role of Bigby Wolf, a man once more infamously known as The Big Bad Wolf. Now the sheriff of Fabletown, a hidden enclave of exiled Fables living in New York City, Bigby is tasked by bureaucrat Snow White to keep order within the society of mythical creatures and characters trying to remain undetected in the world of the mundane. From a chain-smoking member of 'The Three Little Pigs' to a car-thieving Mr. Toad itching for his next wild ride, The Wolf Among Us examines the lives of beings straight from the pages of myth and lore, now trying to survive on the meanest and grittiest streets of New York City.

Our very own Dan Connors, Telltale's CEO and Co-Founder, said this week: "Developing The Wolf Among Us based on the FABLES universe has allowed our studio to build upon all of the hallmarks of what makes our episodic series so engaging for players. Through an evolution of our approach to choice and consequence, we can further explore the complexity of each and every iconic character in a universe rich with untold history from the darkest sides of the storybooks."

The Telltale team can't WAIT to unveil more about this upcoming game series as we inch closer to its expected summer launch. For more news and updates, stay tuned right here to the Telltale blog, follow @telltalegames on twitter, and don't forget to check out our new page on Facebook for The Wolf Among Us for updates and images as they become available.

Telltale is bringing Marty and Doc into 2013 – Back to the Future: The Game comes to iPhone on Thursday 7th March! The new universal app runs on iPhone 4 and up as well as iPad, and is in fact the FIRST Telltale app to support the 16:9 display on iPhone 5.

The new universal base app (Episode 1) will be FREE at launch for a limited time only – grab it while you can! All 5 episodes in the season will be available at once, so there’s no need to wait for the next installment. The base app (Episode 1) features an in-game menu where you can purchase Episodes 2-5 individually, or save by getting the Episodes 2-5 multi-pack for the special introductory price of just $9.99. This new in-game menu means that instead of existing as separate apps on your device, all your BTTF goodness is contained in one handy package.

Please note the release of the new universal base app means the superseded Back to the Future: The Game Episodes 2-5 will no longer be available for direct download in the App Store. Ownership of these episodes cannot be transferred to the universal app, so if these episodes are not backed up to the iCloud or kept on the device, they can no longer be acquired without purchasing the Episodes 2-5 multi-pack. Ownership of Episode 1 will transfer to ownership of the new universal base app.

The Walking Dead Episode 5 Stats Trailer Out Now

Posted on January 2013 by TelltaleGames

The credits have rolled. The tears many of you shared with us on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter have dried, and the gross snotty Kleenex have been tossed away... but it's not quite over yet! If you're emotionally prepared to relive the major decisions in Episode 5 of The Walking Dead, check out the stats trailer for 'No Time Left'

This video highlights just some of choices the majority of players made in the season finale. Obviously gigantic spoilers here, so don't watch unless you've already completed the episode!

Playing Dead Episode 9 Shambles Out

Posted on January 2013 by TelltaleGames

In the final episode of 'Playing Dead', host A.J. LoCascio talks to devs Sean Vanaman, Jake Rodkin, and Sean Ainsworth about 'No Time Left', the emotional conclusion to The Walking Dead game's first season. You'll also hear Robert Kirkman's thoughts on the series and the choices he made in the final episode, plus the one and only Dave Fennoy details the process of becoming Lee Everett and his thoughts on Lee's fate at the end of the season.

But wait, there's more! As a BONUS episode, we share a very special chat with legendary voice actor Terry McGovern, otherwise known as Larry from The Walking Dead. Terry has been a teacher and an actor in the field for over 30 years, and in this very rare sit down, he talks about what it was like becoming the oversized curmudgeon Larry for the game. Fans of Star Wars, Back to the Future and Duck Tales will want to listen in on his adventures as well. Fun fact: not only was Terry the voice of a Stormtrooper in the original Star Wars releases, he also voiced Launchpad McQuack!

And finally... we want to say a HUGE thanks for your support over the course of 2012. This was an incredible year for Telltale, due in no small part to you (yes, YOU)! We simply cannot describe how much we've appreciated your support and enthusiasm.

Get ready for an exciting 2013!

Curious What Could Be Lurking Around Every Corner in Ep 4 of The Walking Dead?

Posted on September 2012 by TelltaleGames

That walker’s getting a little too close to Clementine for comfort…  and we can all blame the writer of The Walking Dead’s Episode Four, Gary Whitta. (@garywhitta)

If you’re following us on Twitter (@telltalegames), then you too may have already begun to worry for Clem’s safety in the forthcoming episode ‘Around Every Corner’ with the release of the episode’s first official screenshot.

Remember, THE TRAILER for Episode Four lands first THIS MONDAY at 12pm PST!  Trust us, you WON'T WANT TO MISS IT!

While we don’t yet have a specific release date for the launch of the episode just yet, the episode is coming in October. Thank you for trusting that, like that walker shuffling towards Clem, ‘Around Every Corner’ is coming!

Playing Dead LIVE from PAX with Gary Whitta and the Telltale Team

Posted on September 2012 by TelltaleGames

Earlier this year, we launched our on-going web-series ‘Playing Dead’ featuring regular talks with the development team at Telltale Games discussing the process of creating an episodic game series based on Robert Kirkman’s award winning comic book series, The Walking Dead.

Recently in Seattle during PAX Prime, Telltale came face to face with thousands of fans LIKE YOU who had a chance to swing by our booth to say hello and let us know what they loved the most about the series.

Our fans also joined us for our over-capacity panel, ‘Playing Dead LIVE,’ featuring project leads Sean Vanaman, Jake Rodkin, as well as story-consultant and writer for the fast-approaching Episode Four: Long Road Ahead, Gary Whitta.  Hosted by A.J. LoCascio, the panel dives deep into the process of what it takes to develop an episodic game series and even answers questions from the audience.

Who saved Doug? Who saved Carley? Who would resort to angry letters to Telltale if anything bad should happen to their favorite character? Just what DID Gary Whitta find in a fake dead horse on the set of The Walking Dead TV show?

These questions and more are answered in the video!

Remember, Episode Four, written by Gary Whitta, will be launching very soon this October, followed shortly by the finale in Episode Five, ‘No Time Left.’ We’ll have more details on Episode Four very soon.  VERY soon!  We’ll also know more about the iOS version of Episode Three later this week. We can’t wait for you to see how your story unfolds as this season concludes.

Thanks again to all of our AMAZING fans who came by to see us at PAX and filled the room at the panel! We definitely had a lot of fun and hope to see you all again next year, and remember, this isn’t the last season of The Walking Dead that Telltale will be doing…

25 Years of Sam & Max

Created by Steve Purcell, Sam & Max began their exploits in the indie comic book world with a daring adventure to the Philippines called "Monkeys Violating the Heavenly Temple" (drawn entirely without reference). After a series of follow-up comic books, the critically-acclaimed Sam & Max Hit the Road adventure game released in 1993. The dog and rabbity-thing duo moved to television in an award-winning animated series, an Eisner Award winning webcomic, and games for virtually every kind of gaming system.  As for Steve Purcell, among many other ground-breaking projects, he has gone on to co-write and co-direct one of the top grossing films of 2012: Pixar/Disney’s “Brave.”

Telltale CEO Dan Connors said, “We’re very excited to celebrate Sam & Max’s anniversary. Steve Purcell created something unique, funny and enduring that continues to grab new fans every single year; now’s the perfect time for gamers to see what all the fuss is about and for current fans to complete their collections with these special offers.”

“Sam & Max have always had a happy home at Telltale”,
said creator Steve Purcell. “They just “get” what Sam & Max is about and so these games are the perfect place to enter their world. It’s wonderful and gratifying that after 25 years, Sam & Max continue to make people happy and I’m excited that these offers provide gamers with an opportunity to play the marvelously inventive games that Telltale made. Here’s to another 25 years!”

We'd like to thank our fans for sticking with us along our crazy freelance policing adventures over the years, and ask that you share your favorite stories, artwork, and picures of their exploits!

Tweet to @telltalegames and hashtag #SamMax25 with anything related to our heroes to celebrate this momentous occasion.  One random and lucky winner on twitter will win a limited edition, DELUXE Sam & Max statue! Oh my! Winner to be announced at the end of September... Best of luck to our biggest fans!

Join Us at PAX and Replenish Your Undead Survival Kit

Posted on August 2012 by TelltaleGames

PAX Prime is just a couple of days away and we're making the final preparations for what is sure to be our biggest one yet, but we wanted to give you the scoop on what you can get your hands on if you come see us at our The Walking Dead booth and Playing Dead LIVE panel!

PAX Prime Exclusive T-Shirts "How do I get these newfangled PAX Prime t-shirts?", you ask? It's easy.

On Twitter, tweet to @telltalegames with the hashtags #PAX and #IAmTheWalkingDead See the booth staff and let them know you've tweeted, and if you're among the first to claim them while supplies last, you've got yourself a free shirt! We have limited quantities of each day's shirt so make sure to visit us before we're all out! We'll have both shirts available on Sunday.

Turkey Leg Human Hand

There are are a few ways you can get your hands on these hands. They're very limited and yes, they're edible!

Friday: Confirm your attendance for our PAX Prime "Event" on The Walking Dead Facebook page (HERE) and be among the first to snag these savory human hand styled turkey legs! Stop by our booth on the Friday of PAX and show us proof that you've confirmed to attend and away you'll go, fleshy goodness and all. Remember, supplies are limited and we make no guarantees, but only the first to come with a print out or proof of confirmation on your mobile Facebook device will be first-served!

Saturday: Swipe the shirt we're handing out on Friday and come by our booth wearing it on Saturday while we're serving up our grub, while supplies last. Be sure to follow us on Twitter (@telltalegames) to find out when we're ringing the dinner bell.

Sunday: Much like the previous day's method, wear the shirt we gave away on Saturday to the show on Sunday and be one of the first to visit our booth while we're serving up the hands. Twitter (@telltalegames) is the best way to make sure you get in on the feast to know when we are giving away the legs for the folks wearing the #IAmTheWalkingDead shirts!

Remember, quantities on the hands are extremely limited. Wearing the previous day's shirt doesn't guarantee you a hand, but it's the only way you can get one!

Playing Dead: LIVE Exclusive Lee and Clem Poster

If our special presentation of Playing Dead: LIVE at 6:30pm on Friday in the Unicorn theater wasn't already enough to rouse the dead, the very limited edition poster we'll be giving away exclusively to attendees should do it! The individually numbered poster, featuring Lee and Clementine, is suitable for display in any situation, at the office, dorm room, locker, or even if you're holed up inside a pharmacy in Macon!

We're excited to see everyone at the booth and looking forward to sharing the experience of making an episode of Playing Dead with you at PAX Prime this year! See you in Seattle!

The Second Episode of The Walking Dead Shuffles to iOS Next Week

Posted on August 2012 by TelltaleGames

We've got some great news for fans playing The Walking Dead (or Walking Dead: The Game as it's known on the iTunes App Store) on the go; the emotional story of survival in a world completely devastated by the undead continues next week as Episode Two - Starved for Help will make its debut on iOS next week via in-app purchase!

We're thrilled to bring the iOS version of Starved for Help, the episode that won GameSpy's Best Adventure Game award at E3 2012 on PC and was nominated for Overall Best Game of Show by IGN! With the first episode, A New Day, the iOS version has already won over critics like Mac Life, awarding the app an impressive 5/5 saying, "Walking Dead: The Game is already a game-of-the-year contender on other platforms, but it's an even better fit for iOS devices."

Since Starved for Help is available via in-app purchase, all you will need to do next week to get your hands on it is fire up Walking Dead: The Game (universal app), select the "Episodes" option on the main menu, and buy the episode from the subsequent screen! If you have already purchased the Multi-Pack, you will see a notification on the menu screen informing you that your episode is ready for download from within the app itself.

Episode Two - Starved for Help can be purchased individually for $4.99 or as part of the Multi-Pack, an Episode 2-5 bundle, for $14.99! Take advantage of the Multi-Pack and save 25% from the price of purchasing each episode separately as they are released in the future.

How will you get ready to hop back into Lee Everett's blood-stained shoes on iOS? Watch out for this episode hitting next week!

Robert Kirkman Gets Into The Gory and Emotional Details of The Walking Dead

Posted on August 2012 by TelltaleGames

A couple of the fellas at IGN.com and the PlayStation Blog recently had a chance to catch up with Robert Kirkman, the creator and mastermind behind the Eisner award-winning The Walking Dead as well as an executive producer on AMC's hit The Walking Dead TV show! They grilled him on a number of juicy subjects and I've dropped a few tidbits below to whet your appetite!

IGN.com's Anthony Gallegos quizzed Robert Kirkman on what his inspiration was for the horrible world and dramatic downward spiral of The Walking Dead and he said (mostly) jokingly that "A big part of it is my horrible outlook on life. I always like to dwell on the negative and see the bad things... I feel like I'm very analytical and, uh, very depressed." If you keep up with the comic book series, you know that the world Rick Grimes and company live in is a miserable one. Read the entirety of IGN.com's piece on their interview with Robert Kirkman here!

Also, Sid Shuman from the PlayStation Blog wanted to know why Robert Kirkman chose Telltale to create the game based on The Walking Dead comic universe and Robert cited that part of it was the fact that our games are "...focused on the emotional, dramatic component" rather than "being chased by zombies". Reviewers have felt the same way, praising the game's emphasis on emotion, drama, and narrative, with publications like The New York Times saying in their review of Episode One, "...moments have more sadness and subtlety in them than other games muster in 40 hours." Check out the full PlayStation Blog interview with Robert Kirkman here!

We're expecting to have some anxiously awaited release date news in the near future for Episode Three - Long Road Ahead and the iOS release of Episode Two - Starved for Help, so stay tuned to the Telltale Blog for the latest as soon as it happens! Thank you again to everyone for your patience, we're looking forward to fans getting their hands on the next episode as soon as possible.
