'In the Pines' trailer and free soundtrack-single download

Posted on March 2014 by puzzlebox

We've been hearing a lot from fans curious about the end credits song in The Walking Dead: Season Two Episode 2 - A House Divided. That song is actually our long-time composer Jared Emerson-Johnson's take on a traditional American folk song called 'In the Pines', which dates back to the 1870s and is believed to be of Southern Appalachian origin. The haunting vocals in this version are supplied by the multi-talented Janel Drewis, who also works as an animator on the development team at Telltale.

The song is featured in our latest trailer for the season so far.

Good news for those who've been looking for a downloadable version of this take on 'In the Pines' - you can get it for FREE right now at telltalegames.bandcamp.com.

If you're keen for even more music from The Walking Dead: Season Two, look out for more singles from Anadel, whose tracks 'Carver' and 'In the Water' are also available separately on their page at anadel.bandcamp.com.

We're pleased to say that fans can look forward to the full soundtrack releasing later this year after the season concludes!

First details on Tales from the Borderlands, plus Michael Madsen (voice of Carver) on Playing Dead

SXSW panel

Telltale Games, Gearbox and 2K have unveiled the very first details on Tales from the Borderlands at SXSW!

We can finally reveal that you will play as TWO protagonists: Rhys, a Hyperion company man with a robotic arm and a knack for hacking; and Fiona, a fast-talking con artist.

The story will be told from both of their perspectives, and here's the twist: both of these characters are lying jerks, so you're never playing what REALLY happened. It's more like playing each of their interpretations of events, and the truth lies somewhere in between...

Check out this full video of the 'Two Sides to Every Story' panel for more info on Rhys and Fiona, how this story fits into the Borderlands universe, and more detail about the physiology of skags than you ever wanted to know.

Also from this past weekend: on the latest Playing Dead episode from IGN, host Greg Miller interviews legendary "bad guy" actor Michael Madsen (known for his roles in Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill), who plays Carver in The Walking Dead: Season Two. Check out the video for more!

The Walking Dead: Season Two premiere - available to download now!

It's here! The Walking Dead: Season Two premiere, All That Remains, is now available to download from the Telltale Games online store. If you've already purchased the season, all you need to do is head over to your profile page and go to the 'My Games' tab to download it!

The season premiere is also available to download now for PC/Mac via Steam, and for PlayStation 3 via the PlayStation Network. It's coming to Xbox 360 tomorrow (Wednesday 18th December), and will land on iOS this week too.

If you've already played All That Remains, be sure to let us know what you think in the discussion forum (just PLEASE be mindful of spoilers for folks who haven't had a chance to play yet)!

Still on the fence? Check out what some of the very first reviewers had to say...

  • Nerdist - "Telltale's phenomenal Fables-inspired The Wolf Among Us was my methadone, but nothing compares to the sweet rush of plunging back into the bleak, dangerous apocalyptica of The Walking Dead, and, to stick with this forced metaphor, Season Two is the Blue Sky of adventure games and a worthy successor ... It's difficult to judge All That Remains without considering that it's part of a whole, but for my money, it's a home run. Lightning, meet bottle - again."

  • Game Trailers - 9/10 Editor's Choice - "The first episode of The Walking Dead's second season may only last an hour and a half, but it doesn't waste a single minute. Within one scene, Telltale will make you feel scared, hopeful, shocked, and repulsed, only to have the next several scenes do the exact same thing."

  • IGN - 8/10 - "Not enough games are willing to pose provocative, contemplative questions like this, and it remains what makes The Walking Dead special ... I'm more invested in Clementine now than I’ve ever been, and I admire her believable independence and resolve."

  • Newsarama - 10/10 - "Let's make this as simple and clear as possible: The Walking Dead Season 2 is a must-play game. Telltale has shown an expertise above and beyond anything they've done before, and Clementine is the most interesting playable character in a video game this year, if not beyond."

  • Escapist - 9/10 - "Season One was like tossing your soul into a thresher. If All That Remains is anything to go by, this second season will burn the very heart of you."

  • Mashable - "It's more like a high-stakes drama than ever before, and there was no moment that took me away from the fear of something - human or zombie - coming around a corner."

  • Machinima - 9/10 - "Immediately after completing season 1's No Time Left, and after wiping away the tears, I was desperate for answers: I needed to know that Clementine was safe — all thanks to Telltale Games' great storytelling prowess at making captivating characters. Season 2 seems to be going in the same direction, in a more brutally direct way. There's so much more I want to talk about, but that would spoil the experience that awaits you."

  • Joystiq - 9/10 - "The Walking Dead isn't a roller coaster of emotions; it's a seesaw. On one end sits the golden halo of the human spirit, strengthened by trust, dignity and love. On the other end slumps the shadow of death, mutilation and irrational violence ... Perched in the middle of this seesaw is Clementine. She is the balance, representing everything worth fighting for, worth decapitating for. Worth dying for. Clementine is the humanity in all of us"

  • Game Informer - 8.5/10 - "Once again, Telltale refuses to pull any punches; the violence isn't softened just because Clementine is a child. I cringed more times than I was expecting during this episode due to some of the brutality, but that’s exactly what an episode of The Walking Dead should make you do."

  • The Verge - "putting you in control of Clementine has turned All That Remains into perhaps the most intense episode yet, with horrible decisions to make and some truly gruesome scenes. The gameplay formula hasn't changed at all, but the emotional stakes only continue to rise."

Sneak peek at The Wolf Among Us Episode 2: 'Smoke & Mirrors'

Posted on December 2013 by puzzlebox

With this week's launch of The Wolf Among Us on iOS, everyone here at the office has been incredibly excited by the response to our series from fans new and old alike. We know many of you are anxious to see where Bigby's story goes next, and the dev team is hard at work finalizing our live development process on the upcoming episode, Smoke & Mirrors. At Telltale, we always aim to deliver quality content across the season at a pace that will keep you glued to your screen and talking about 'your story' as the season progresses. With the second chapter now close to completion, we wanted to share two new screens from the episode to give you a sneak peek at what will be happening next in Fabletown...

First up is a brand-new reveal of a character that FABLES fans will definitely recognize – the one and only 'Jack' of beanstalk fame. A sharp-tongued rogue who's been a staple character in the FABLES series since issue one, Jack has even been honored with his very own spinoff comic series, Jack of FABLES.

Jack of FABLES

We also have a peek at the seedy underground club exclusively for Fables, known as the 'Pudding & Pie.' Doesn't look like the gentleman in the chair is particularly happy to see Bigby and his 'friend,' but it's probably safe to say that Bigby isn't very happy either...

Pudding and Pie

We wanted to thank everyone for playing the first chapter in The Wolf Among Us, and ask for your patience as the team works very hard this month to finalize what is shaping up to be another episode full of surprises. We're anticipating another update on its ETA for release very soon after the holidays, and we couldn't be more excited to continue this series with all of you.

Stay tuned for more updates as they happen, and if you're also a fan of The Walking Dead, definitely check back for news on the Season Two premiere, set to arrive later THIS MONTH on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Mac, and iOS!
