Sam & Max to walk the red carpet
Posted by emily February 7, 2007
Figuratively speaking, anyway.

The nominees for this year's Game Developer's Choice awards have been announced, and Sam & Max: Culture Shock is up for Best Writing, along with Dreamfall, Bully, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. For those who aren't familiar, the Game Developer's Choice awards are one of the highlights of GDC, which takes place in San Francisco in March.

Speaking of GDC, Kevin and Dave Grossman will be giving a presentation about episodic gaming for indie developers, and Dan is participating in a talk about digital distribution. We'll also be showing off The Great Cow Race since it's up for an IGF award for best audio, so if you're going to be at the show, stop by the IGF Pavilion and come say hi!

And hey... only one more day until Sam & Max episode 3 comes out on this very website. Woo!

Haha, I just pressed the "Link Text" for the first time, funny =D...

But hey, good for you... Hope you'll win!

If I had to rank those titles, Dreamfall would be first, Twilight Princess and Sam and Max would be tied for second, and Bully would be fourth because it isn't the horrifically written Oblivion, which should have been a nominee for worst writing.

Congratulations to the team at Telltale! It's funny, I was just thinking about how well written these episodes are while playing episode 2 yesterday. The nomination is well diserved. Good luck and thanks for putting comedy adventures back into the industry!

Well... I expected a Big(ish) award for Sam and Max. With Bone, it was good audio, unlike Sam and max IN which all think audio quality isn't the best!

WOOO GO TELLTALE!

Trixie, for the love of God, I hope you're not talking about the voices. They're FINE. And the sounds in the game are good, too.

I think Trixie is referring to compression quality, which is a technical issue that isn't really related to sound design.

So I bet this sounds funny to you, given how stressful your schedule is already, but any plans to port Sam and Max over to the Mac format? I bought season one and then switched over like a month later. First two episodes were fun, but I have no idea when I'm gonna have regular access to a windows machine again. Probably not for a while, and it's making me die inside.

Congrats on the nominations.
