Sam & Max takes home two three five Aggie Awards!
Posted by Emily February 18, 2009
Today Adventure Gamers kicked off their first ever Aggie Awards ceremony, with Sam & Max Season Two taking home Best Comedy Writing and Best Gameplay, plus a Reader's Choice award for writing. This is the first of a 3-day event, so we're hoping there are more Aggies for Telltale on the way!

Our virtual trophy case is already filling up, with Season Two already having won IGN's Best of 2008 distinction, as well as Best Adventure Game from PC Gamer US, which was revealed in their March issue (on sale now). Hey, we always knew the game was good, but it's nice when others agree!

Want to see how much fun an award-winning game can be? Look no further!

Day Two update! In today's awards, Sam & Max got Best Music, plus Reader's Choice awards for Best Voice Acting and Best Sound Design. Which game beat us out on the voice acting front? Why, it's none other than Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People!

Day Three update! The final awards are in! Sam & Max snagged both the staff and Reader's Choice awards for Best 3rd Person PC Adventure and (drum roll please) Best Adventure of 2008. (Woo!) That's five official awards, plus a bunch of Reader's Choice to boot. We'd like to thank the academy...

I'm just disappointed that SBCG4AP didn't win any awards. Feh. :(

Strong Bad was a runner up in the comedy writing category (we're our own worst enemy!), and there are still a bunch of awards to come, so you can hold out hope. :)

Also Strong Bad won Best Voice Acting from in IGN's Best of 2008 awards, and it was a runner up in several other categories.

Nice work! The Sam & Max games definitely deserve it, season 2 is my favourite Telltale series to date.

Do they count single episodes or whole seasons? cause if so, Telltale would win heaps with Beezlebub and Santa and Spaceship Episodes (not saying that the other two are bad, just those ones seem to get a better aggregate score

My favorite one was the Chariots of the Dogs. If I remember correctly it was given high marks in PC Gamer. Higher than Whats up Beezlebub?

I still cant wait till the next season.

Season Two definitely deserved an award far more than SBCG4AP. I enjoyed the series, don't get me wrong, but both Sam and Max seasons have a special "something", an "oomph" to them that the Strong Bad games just don't.

And Chariots of the Dogs is simply one of the best adventure games ever made, let alone episodic or "full".

Though I'm not sure how much you know that your last two games were good, considering that you've dropped pointing and clicking.

Greatly deserved. You guys are awesome and deserve every award, SBCG4AP was amazing, topped only by Sam and Max Season 2. Really looking forward to Wallace and Grommet as well, keep up the great work!

All very well, but I refuse to buy it, because Episodic content like this needs to be on PS3 Playstation Network.

I know if I buy it on PC, I will regret it later, when it finally arrives on PS3.
