Great news! I never thought this would be even remotely possible to happen in this universe... but I guess wonders still happen. It must be exciting to work on such loved franchise, by fans, and by you the developers that originated the first ones.

Now, all we need is a sequel to Day of the Tentacle!

The only unfortunate thing here is that I probably won't be able to play it on my PDA, which is how I always ended up playing monkey island for some reason. (Got introduced to it only a few years ago).

I was expecting this moment for so long, and you running it is a definite sing of quality in script/game design, which would have been doubtful coming from only the "new" LucasArts
I hope this ever gets voice-translated into spanish as I have played MI3 and MI4 in spanish and I feel a bit nostalgic about Guybrush's voice

Does every game have to be all 3D though? I guess that's what you guys do, but the style of Curse of Monkey Island (the third game), beautiful hand-drawn cartoonish graphics, will to me always be the ideal. It's like all those 3D kids movies-- but Disney is doing a 2D one this year! Maybe you guys should pick up on the retro-trend!

So, now that you are releasing a "Special Edition" Monkey Island that includes the original (ala R-Type Dimensions), what are the odds of us seeing this exact same treatment (or at least just straight-up rereleases) of Sam & Max, Maniac Mansion, and Day of the Tentacle? Also, Mac version please? And if not, will it run in SCUMM VM since it runs on the same engine?

I went on the internet at school today expected to delight myself in news of the new Metal Gear game.

But when I discovered they were making new monkey island games I almost cried tears of joy.

Today is a good day. Peace and Harmony have been restored to the universe.

This is truthfully the best piece of gaming news I think we could have hoped for from E3. Sod your pre-renders Killzone 2 footage from E3 2005 and the next wacky-crappy shake your controller game from Nintendo.... this is TRUE gaming news and I think we all thank you.

Unfortunately you've alienated me personally from the release as it's PC and Wii only. I have both platforms, but the PC is far too anti-social a medium for me (given I have a family now) and getting arm ache and viewing choppy graphics on the Wii isn't an option. Wii only comes out at Xmas or when Grandma comes round (suits her mental ability). ....

Whilst I understand that the PC (Amiga!) is the true home of Monkey Island, it is a strange decision not to release on XBLA? Especially given the recent release of W&G (and upcoming release of S&M). What's the thought process behind that?

The PC will always have a limited user base for games (given the nature of the platform - no offense) and the Wii simply doesn't have a robust enough digital-distribution method. Mass market is XBLA and PS3, surely you know that? Just look at how many downloads of the W&G demo you got on XBLA compared to on the PC in the first week.... crazy!

Anyway, don't want to sour what is ultimately great news for the fans!... thank you LucasArts and Tell Tale (how awesome would a DOTT or Full Throttle sequel be for a 2010 E3 announcement :o))

I'll envy all you PC/Wii junkies in July, and instead be lining LucasArts pockets instead when the Monkey Island remake comes to XBLA in "Summer" (is that British Summer or Australian summer?)

...But anyway, the 3D Graphic looks worse than Walles & Gromit and I think Sam & Max as well as Monkey Island deserve mutch more than this bad looking episode-games. Sad.

Regarding Vista 64 support. (Or so I've heard) While it does support Vista 64, that doesn't mean it won't run. Only that there may be hiccups with that OS etc. However, there is talk of removing the language "Does not support Vista 64", as it appears that it may be running fine. That's all thirdhand information, and I cannot validate any of it as of yet.

I can't believe it my weekend just had the biggest shot in the arm ever.

Will this game come oout for the Wii as well?

I mean, look at what happened to the original trilogy (Han doesn't shoot first for example).
What happened to THX 1138 (It looks like a videogame now, especially that new racing sequence).
What happened to E.T. (that CGI E.T. is just awful, it doesn't look right and it moves too fast and fluid).
I haven't seen Indy 4 yet, I am afraid of doing.
So what is Lucas going to do with Monkey Island? Let's hope nothing bad.

Lucas Arts REALLY REALLY REALLY SHOULD have stuck to 2D rendering........monkey island 3 had the BEST look to it and when it moved to 3D its gone downhill.....it removes the essence of what a Point and click should be all about.....

come on guys.........the reworked MI 1 looks beautiful.......please stick to that style......... dont sell yourselves and the Monkey Island Franchise in a feeble attempt to stay with the times...
