Get Tales of Monkey Island individual episodes on Amazon.com!
Posted by David E August 13, 2009

Some big news today for anyone who's been looking to purchase individual episodes of Tales of Monkey Island! Telltale is pleased to announce that we've partnered with Amazon.com, fine purveyor of everything, to bring you the individual chapters of Tales of Monkey Island in downloadable form from their site!

So, if you want to test the waters with "Launch of the Screaming Narwhal" before signing on for the full season, you can do so right now over at Amazon.com.

And the best part? Once you've played through Chapter One and decided that you're ready for four more episodes of Monkey awesomeness (as we're sure that you will be ;) you'll be able to subtract the cost of your initial purchase from the price of the remaining episodes so that you can still get the full season for just $34.95! We're still working out the details of exactly how this is going to work, but we'll keep you informed here on the blog with any new updates as they become available.

"Fine purveyor of everything." Yeah, that pretty much sums 'em up.

That's great! Not only does it provide additional retail outlets for an amazing game, but it also provides a high quality game to Amazon's relatively new games downloads service (something it was greatly lacking before). An excellent arrangement for both companies.

That could have helped a few days ago before I bought the DVD!!!

But I would have signed on for the DVD anyway, it is really amazing!

So, it's sort of like when 2d Boy sold codes for the WiiWare version of World of Goo on Amazon, then?

Why aren't you selling the episodes in the Telltale Store individually?

Brian, you should be able to buy episode 2 for full price at Amazon and then get the remaining 3 for a slightly discounted price. Since we haven't been able to work out a way to sell "full season" upgrades via Amazon (yet! =) this is the way that we're handling season pricing for now. If all goes according to plan, episodes will come out on Amazon within 1-3 days after they appear on the Telltale site. Hope this helps!

Brian, Mighty Pirate - So instead of paying $35 to get the whole season and be elligible for the DVD once the season's over, you'd rather pay $36 to buy 4 episodes individually just because you already spent $10 to buy one ep in a different format. When you do the maths, that just doesn't make any sense.

I bought the first chapter at Amazon because I had a gift certificate and thought great I can use it and still get the 34.95 price like you mention in the original post.

But now that chapter 2 is coming out and it sounds like there won't be an upgrade available before it comes out does that mean I will either have to pay more by buying each chapter individually or just break down and buy the whole season from this site and forfeit the chapter 1 cost?

Do you guys have any info on when the Season Upgrade will be released. I bought the first episode on Amazon, loved it, and now I want to get the rest of the season.

Please create a version of the series in other languages in which people of different nationalities can play without having to translate the texts. In this age of linguistic pluralism is rare that a game is not used as a translation into different languages of different nationalities. We are many people who would like to be able to play this game without having to translate every conversation.

Thanks!
