Guybrush: Die Beste Spielfigur!

Things that are popular in Germany: sauerkraut, beer, and ...Guybrush Threepwood? That's right, MTV Germany is hosting their 2009 Game Awards in November, and Guybrush himself is nominated for Best Character (that's Beste Spielfigur to the rest of us). In regards to our surprise popularity, we blame this guy.

We're unsure when the contest officially ends but the show airs on November 27th, so if you're German (or feeling supportive) visit the voting area here and get Guybrush on TV!

	Guybrush is and has always been one of the most popular videogame characters in germany, so no need to blame majus. Allthough he's doing a really great job.

	Vote done and fingers crossed... now i think you guys should do a language pack for all those peeps which aint good enough in english, love Monkey Island but are cursing about the poor language support (i know some guys like that and to be hones got some troubles to understand everything in the last part too... well good to play it again eh)! Or maybe you put in some subtitles... would be oldschool, less complicated for ya and it has a learning effect... Anyways Good games so far! Keep up the good Work!

	MI is the best adventure EVER! I cant wait for the rest of ToMI to be released... MI is one of the most, if not THE most popular adventure in Germany. I gave my German vote for Guybrush Threepwood. Why is MI only nominated in one category anyway?

	Achtung! Yess, I voted also. Not zat I give a fick about MTV or vould even dream about considering tooning into zat station....but anyvay, jawohl! (I´m gonna stop that now) I first met Kerlbürste, or as I would prefer: Typpinsel, when I was only 8 or 9 and loved him since, same for dozens of people I know. My 14 Year old brother was hooked instantly when I showed him MI 2. I wonder how anyone could not love his adventures. "And the Oscar goes to ..... Guybrush Threepwood!" (Not that I give a...) But the mtv folks might want to get some native english speaker or the presentation will be a mess. It´s been a long time ... gotta get my kraut and beer shots. Lemme just put on my Lederhosen and my I-Pod March...

	In fact, Monkey Island 1 and 2 were translated into German just perfectly - thus cementing the success of both the series and LucasArts adventures in general in Germany. The translation was made by a guy named Boris Schneider who works at German Microsoft now.

	Well, I'm german, too, and played MI waaaaaaaaay before Majus started his arts;). Not saying that they aren't good..he is a genius :), just that he isn't responsible for the MI popularity in Germany all on his own ;). All the parts were translated to german perfectly fine (though I tend to play the games in english after I knew the language good enough) and me and my friends played the games like crazy during the 90s. I can remember times when I sat infront of our family's old PC sometime around 1990, klicking the mouse with my barely 7 year old index finger to let Guybrush run all around the Caribean Sea all day long^^. My dad bought the game for himself...but had a hard time to try to play it himself because I was sitting infront of the PC all day long in my free time lol, having fun with Guybrush and his friends (and enemys). The german translation for his name would be sth along "Typpinsel Treibholz" (if you translate it literally word by word) , luckily the german version never used that and kept the english name, cause the german version sounds VERY weird. xD MI is one of, if not THE best part of my childhood PC game memories
