Hey Telltale,

Seriously... why do you push Steam users back one MORE day? You couldn't release in November as promised in the purchase agreement for those that pre-ordered, you push it back to Dec 8, and then on Dec 8 you tell Steam users one more day. I have heard people mentioning you're putting polish on the finale, but with the way you're handling the schedule it is more like "crap we can't make the deadline". The previous Chapter releases all had the same feel of "just ship it, we'll fix it later."

While I appreciate the attempt to pull off a Monkey Island game, I am quite disappointed in the failed promises of missed deadlines.

Steam users: I'd have thought you'd be used to this by now? Any of you get MW2 through Steam? Have to wait a day or two after official release? As flipperthepriest says, this is third party vendors for you. I personally hate Steam, partly for it's services being for the most part unnecessary, partly for helping ruin the Call of Duty PC series.

Anyway, back on topic, thanks to Telltale for the really good addition to the MI franchise. Hope this latest one makes for a good ending. And I hope there's more to come in the future!

We're working with partners to get the game posted as soon as possible (Steam, Direct2Drive, etc).

Bit of a ripple effect today ... the final game sign off came pretty late in our day, and late in the partner's day too.

We're expecting it to be up on partner channels relatively early tomorrow.

Thank god for fast internet. I'll be playing it soon.

And, wow, I can't believe the number of people complaining about the Steam release. Gimme a break. It's tough to deliver anything on time and you guys complain about one miserable day? Plus, I see no reason to buy it from Steam (except, of course, if you're buying through one of those crazy deals they have from time to time).

I think it's just cos most steam users were following the release, and kinda forgot that we're on a third party service.. so the game needs to be sent to steam, then the steam guys need to fiddle with it a bit, and THEN it can be released on steam.

personally, i'm a little miffed, but not at telltale. just kinda... in general. however, in future might i suggest setting your deadline one day AFTER you think you'll be done? might avoid some of this drama :P

also, i bought it on steam cos they already have my credit card details. after seeing what happened to my email address after posting it on sites i thought i trusted (waiting lists, not forums, and with nothing in the ToC about advertising or 3rd parties, nor a box to untick), i like to keep the important details to as few sites as possible.

Ok, stop complaining you guys! I am sure telltale did not deliberately delay the release for some obscure reason. They worked their ass off in order to get this game out, and all you do is complain that you had to wait a couple of days extra. Just live with it! Do you want a crappy game to be released early, or a perfect game after some waiting time?

Cheers to telltale! I ll be downloading as soon as steam says I can...

I agree with the people who tell the Steam users(me included) to take an chill pill. It will get out and hey whats a day extra of waiting gonna do to you? On the other hand I can see why the Steam people gets a little twitchy. I mean, one thing is to delay a game AFTER everybody who bought it from some other webside got it, but not even giving a hint too wehn we can expect it other than "tommorrow" is down right cruel.
But really i dont give a shit. I know this is gonna be awesome. I know its gonna be worth the wait. But still, those of you bashing the Steam users for whining, just remember that some of us are just as much Monkey Island fans as you are, and are eagerly waiting to see the conclusion on this epic tale..

SPOILER! DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED THE GAME!

I tried to keep it vague for protection from wandering eyes...

Great game! Several staples of the MI series never showed up, though. It would be great to see them in season 2, as one of them is my all-time favorite MI character. There was a certain area with a bird in it that could have easily past off as a representation of something that was missing. All that would have needed to be done is the adding of that certain missing character to the screen.

i adored the series and i adored telltale for taking this honorable step to get the series back ..
if i remember any thing about computer games and my childhood its monkey island and nothing else ..
though yet the best i ever loved about the whole series was Morgan Le Fley and i really wished that Elain remains under Le chuck spell and guybrush maries Morgan ..

any way yet it was the best experience i ever had since playing The Curse of monkey island ...

attached here a link for a video i made about monkey island and telltale it was mainly made for the Halloween contest but i wasn't lucky to win any of the first 3 places but at least i won a free episode from the market place which was the series finale for me ..

I got my hands on the last episode very late yesterday evening, and I played it through in four hours, even if my eyes and my brain were both insisting I put it down and go to bed.

The last scenes were very touching. I'm quite cynical (and sarcastic! I learned this at the age of seven playing Monkey Island, it is a dangerous game to leave around little children) so I -really- mean touching.

Tales of Monkey Island overall was for me everything I've expected since the ending credits rolled on the Curse of Monkey Island the first time all those years ago.

I was happy to give you all that money for this game, and I'm much more happy to give the team my heartfelt thanks for creating this wonderful story game for all of us

Kinda imagined a longer and different ending, but i hope this only means the fantastic adventure of Guybrush Threepwood Mighty Pirate! isn't over yet. I guess you will be occupying yourselves with Sam & Max saga now. (i'm somehow not into it like i was with Monkey Island, dunno why). I just want to thank u immensely for remembering us all how much fun u can have playing a legendary adventure type game, a genre which is not so often seen these days, at least not as great as the Monkey Island saga was and is again now. I enjoyed the whole game!
I'm glad that I could play it, because I'm a BIG fan of adventure point and click games and nowadays, you rarely have the chance to play one, unlike the '90's.

As for this last chapter,I liked it, the ending reminded me of MI 1, when Guybrush was thrown all over Melee island, but the last cutscene was too short !!!
Anyway overall, Telltale done a great job!

I did enjoy it. Alot. But ( like everyone else ) I would change a couple things.
1 thing you did fantastically was the last set of puzzles which reverted back to the original games. (Being tossed around the boat, the pot on guybrush head in the cannon, the "cursed ring", sliding on the rope) It woulda been hysterical if you could find a ruber chicken with a pulley in the middle lying around somewhere too!

I'm dyyyying too find out whats gonna happen to Morgan and I can't wait to take down that wretched, magic-dabbling, over-sized, no-named Voodoo Lady.

And was i the only one who thought Elaine was smokin hot in that corpse bride wedding dress? :D

Okay Telltale... I finished Rise of the Pirate God. I am sorely disappointed. There was much less content than the other chapters, it seemed to just breeze along and the puzzles weren't even puzzles, they were just "keep clicking until rewarded" scenes. It was like playing a movie that would pause itself every few seconds waiting for me to press PLAY again. Not terribly exciting.

The story was decent, and I'm assuming that you've been greenlighted for the next installment. I hope you do better with that one.

PhoenixDirk & wonton is right. There's room for more seasons, but unknown whether ttg's gonna produce the next season or wait another 10 years to create again.

TellTale Folks, would it be possible to ask for the pirate pin up girl poster to be released as a wallpaper? Perhaps you could add it to the treasure hunt that seemed to have been abandoned after Ep. 1? Either way, wallpaper with that poster would be totally rad ;-)

Just finished, and thought everything ended quite nicely. The "gum" puzzle was my favorite.

I wonder whats next. Sam and Max will be back but here have been some great "side" series with Strong Bad, Wallace and Grommit, and Monkey Island. I hope at least one of them makes it to a second season.

Just finished the episode, and I loved it! As always, great jokes, puzzles that were not too hard but still require thought, and a very engrossing story. I loved the atmosphere of this one; the scenery was great and the music fit it perfectly. Of course, the Monkey Island games have always been brilliantly told, but you guys definitely added a new level of depth to characters other than Guybrush that has really made this particular series, in some ways, an improvement on the older ones. I love all the games, but thank you so much for bringing this series back. I don't know that LucasArts themselves could have done a better job. Admittedly, the final sequence seemed a tad abrupt, but with the scene after the credits, it just makes me glad to see that you're not done with the series yet.

Great job!

I kinda hoped Monsieur Thropwimp would change into something like LeChuck...
The usual stuff !!! Flames out of his head......Talking like EARL BOEN !!!! firey hands and all that.
the sequel is a "MUST DO" now.....Surely you revived some past memories but it's up to you now to make the name of "Monkey Island" live on.....
I mean the characters themselves are crying out for a sequel/....
I'm sure Mr. BOEN would definitely want to continue the Keelhaulin' !!!!
Bwah-ha-hah--ahha-aha-ha-h.......
And of course Mr. Armato is wishing he knew what the REAL secret of Monkey Island is, and by what does the verb "rue" mean??? HAHAHAHAHAHA.....
Well played Tell-Tale.....Nice work......Improvements are in schedule I guess.....
Till the next season.............

Telltale, dear Telltale. Not only have you resurrected a world which many of us thought were lost to the sorry isles of Nostalgia(tm), but you've managed to infuse the whimsical tribulations of Guybrush with true emotional firepower. The Secret of Monkey Island was the first true computer game I ever played.* After the first two games, LeChuck's reappearances started to become a bit over the top, but with these five new episodes, you've done what Casino Royale did for James Bond - revitalized an entire franchise by making everything make sense (in a nonsensical sort of way), and giving me intense feelings of heartache, joy, grief and downright compassion with those pixellated characters. I realize I've never CARED for Guybrush before, but ouch - I sure do now.

That's not only a good run, that's a work of pure genius. You bring back two elements to the computer gaming industry that's been lost for far too long: Brains and Heart - and we love you for it! Did I say two, I meant three: You also have to include "Damn Good Storytelling".

Great holidays, my friends!

*I will willingly admit it was a pirated copy (on weatherworn floppies of course, back in the early 90s), but in a way, it was only fitting, :)

So I just checked the Tales of Monkey Island page on Wikipedia for the Wii release date for chapter 5, and once again, the date has changed. Previously it had read "December 2009", the page is now reflecting "January 2010". So what is your release date? Last I checked, there are 31 days in January and you're about to miss your 31 days in December mark you previously set.

It'd just be nice if there was a better effort to manage expectations, I guess PR isn't Telltale's forte...

Monday's here again, with another round of WiiWare updates that doesn't include the final chapter of Tales of Monkey Island. This makes a gap of over a month---the longest delay of any of the chapters domestically.

The worst part of this delay is that we PC-less Wii owners are completely removed from the majority of the other players. I can't participate in the forums. I can't read the reviews. I can't even comment on this entry without turning my head away and scrolling all the way to the bottom. An extreme case of spoilerphobia? Maybe, but even if I wasn't cautious, what good are my comments to someone who was over and done with Guybrush's trial two months ago? I am more isolated from The Monkey Island community than I have ever been.

So lonely!
