Two new Telltale Games on the horizon!
Posted by David E June 9, 2010

UniversalHello folks! Well, it's already been mentioned by a few sources, so I guess it's high time that we confirm that yes, we are indeed working on two new episodic game series based on a couple of familiar (and excellent) films from the fine folks at NBC Universal.

The first of these—Back to the Future, based on the film trilogy of the same name—will be headed your way starting this winter, and will be followed up shortly by Jurassic Park.

Want more details? Check out the press release over at our teaser page.

holy crap! this is very unexpected. i could see back to the future working in the tell tale style of adventure-comedy, but jurassic park will be a new experience and formula that should prove to be a challenge and show how versatile these group of people are. looking forward to these epic adventures.

I love Jurassic Park and I am interested to see how this game will turn out. I much rather have another park building JP game but I'm sure Telltale will make something interesting and great!

Point and click finds a way. What am I saying? Point and click? Where we're going, we won't need point and click.

i'm not holding out for the original actors to return for these games. maybe the ones who don't have a career anymore like christopher lloyd or jeff goldblum, but michael j fox is right out that's for sure.

I am in sheer awe right now.

I almost want to believe it's a joke, some hurtful hoax, because my brain might just explode from how amazing this news is. Not just Back to the Future, but Jurassic Park as well... One of those by themselves would be Earth shatteringly awesome, but both? English doesn't have a word to describe how infinitely astonishing this all is.

First, Congratulations!!!!

Second, please tell me that there will be a PS3 demo on the upcoming JP and BTTF bluray releases. Telltale missing out on getting a PS3 demo onto the recent Wallace & Gromit bluray was a sorely missed business opportunity, and it would be disappointing to see the same mistake again.

Other Universal franchises that would be awesome in episodic form: Firefly/Serenity, Evil Dead, and Battlestar Galactica. Heck, I'd even be interested in Heroes in episodic form if Telltale were allowed significant rewrites beyond the first televised season's material.

Hopefully this means 24-bit HD audio for the music -- both of these franchsies have amazing symphonic soundtracks, and giant booming surround sound effects!

First, congrats on the partnership. Second, there was no mention of SBCG4AP in the little trailer, why? Also, I am 50/50 on saying this will or won't work, as the movies have come out quite a while ago, and it will be probably confusing to see where the story lines go.

but...but....but...grickle?
Anyways I'm mad keen to see more on these games. Will they even be puzzle games? could they warrant a new engine? Are they stand alone stories, inspired by the setting, or will we play as marty mcfly? many questions to be answered.

I wonder if the BTTF games will be like the short-lived animated series of the 90's?

Not sure how you will pull Jurassic Park off into an Adventure game. There's dinosaurs eating people constantly there. lol. More like an action game.

June 9, 2010, 9:35 pm
I did not expect this :-) I really like BTTF and think it is a good Idea to do an Adventure game about it. For Jurassic Park... well, i'm curious how this will work out.

And also, like BoneFreak above, i'm wondering why there was no SBCG4AP (and Bone) in the Trailer. Would it just not fit visually, or is there any other reason behind it?

Hmm. Okay. Color me curious. I have faith in you guys. I do. But I don't really see where you're heading here. Are you remaking the movies as adventure games? Are you taking the world concepts and making new stories? Are you planning on making episodic games that aren't point and click adventure games?

More info please!

I'm excited, but make sure to concentrate on Devil's Playhouse and Nelson Tethers first. Don't do what you did with W&G when ToMI was about to come out (the later episodes weren't a good and felt rushed)

Telltale, kudos on making brave and exciting challenges.
(BTTF made me start the gamer nerd journey I'm on today!)

But you do realise that if you don't rise to the challenge, there'll be a LOT of angry fans, right?
Fans that have wanted BTTF 4 since 1994?
That despise all game versions/adaptations to date?
Who can't imagine BTTF altered much if at all?

I REALLY hope you have Fox, Lloyd, Wilson, Silvestri, Gale and Zemekis on speed dial...
(Or some mind blowingly AMAZING stand ins! Castanella is definitely too costly now!)

Just please...DON'T go the direction of the TV toon. Too cheesy and poorly thought out.

Oh and Universal shares the gamble. A trilogy remake would have an immediate "KILL EM ALL!" reaction. A game? Not so much.

I have my fingers crossed for the first time since you formed and I purchased, that this ISN'T screwed up. I want to believe you'll do as well as usual.

On a side note, I bet Lucas wishes his lackeys never canned the Sam and Max 2 project. XD

id love to see how the heck you can take a pile of dung like jurrasic park and make it into a game with adventure quality.. there have been so many games made for it and all stank badly..

bad move imo..

back to the future has promise but even that would have to be like stuff that happened in mid times not the movies themselves..

idk im not liking either idea.... but only time will tell

btw what is with the movie games.. im lost here.. was there a yard sale?

Congratulations are definitely due, Back to the Future seems kind of like the ideal title for Telltale to take on after all their time-travelling hijinks so far.
