See the Teaser Trailer for Our Unannounced Game
Posted by Alan August 28, 2010

We've got a new game that may or may not feature a famous cast of characters coming, and you haven't heard anything about it yet!

Last night (otherwise known as very early this morning) GameTrailers TV presented a world premiere teaser trailer for our upcoming release that hinted at a meeting of some very recognizable faces. While we won't be revealing anything else until this Thursday, September 2, you can certainly begin to formulate your best guesses as to what the game is from what our teaser showed you.

We're blowing the lid off of this game at PAX so make sure to stop by the Telltale Games booth (3509) to get a closer look at what the silhouetted figures from the trailer hinted at!

What are your thoughts on what this star-studded game might be? Let me hear it in the comments!

Want to see the HD version of this trailer? Go see it on our YouTube channel.

Talk about this trailer in our forums!

Probably a new version of Telltale Texas Hold'em Poker with characters from Sam & Max, HomestarRunner.com, Penny Arcade & Team Fortress 2... Could be nice :)

If this is a new version of some stupid cardgame, then telltale has lost about all the respect I had for them. I mean, adventure games is what telltale is all about, its even in the TITLE!
This looks like an early april fools joke or something, I at least know that the new back to the future and jurrasic park games coming up are going to be awesome.

@The sam of town But the 1st game ever made by Telltale using their Telltale Tool was Telltale Texas Hold Em so it's kinda nice that they could be going back to their roots, so to say. Not to mention all their financially successful releases lets them do something that's more of a niche thing that's a nod to their early fanbase.

i have commented, but my comment has disapiered, it was a little bigger than this one, im exaited, a crossover game will be awsome, and telltale has history on card games, i wish sam was on that triller too, xD, o come on, hadnt finearts teach us that pocker games and dogs look cool together xD, plus hes detective look , and i cant imagine max with out hem on a game...ok...sam is my favorite telltale character, and i would be exaited to see hem on a crossover game...but thats just me , i can understand that [quote]it's the new tarot cards for the woodo lady. ToMI2 announced[quote] but on defenitive that would made me feel more exaitd 8w8 , and yes, what is going on with all that hostility, is like telltale had made you guys somthing bad by creating a game, how intense we fans can be, if you dont like a poker game just dont play it, dont take it so personal, jesus.D8

Hoped that was Guybrush.

But:
Tycho from Penny Arcade Adventures, Max from Sam and Max, the Heavy from Team Fortress 2 and Strong Bad from Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People. That's in order from left to right, in case you're really unfamiliar with the aforementioned games.

Is it possible it's not Telltale Texas Hold 'Em 2? (Don't get me wrong, that'd be great, but a crossover of this magnitude is better for a point-and-click adventure.) I know two of the silhouettes seem to be holding cards, but the more I look at it, it seems possible that Tycho is holding a very cartoony Game Boy while the Heavy is holding the Sandvich.

I just hope the Sandvich doesn't tell Heavy to "kill them all" again. Although it would explain why he owns Max's Severed Head. And why H*R hasn't updated in months. :(

Anyway, whatever this is, I'm looking forward to it. You're amazing, Telltale!

I have no idea why people think a point and click crossover would be good. A not at all serious, stand-alone gathering like Texas Hold 'Em 2: Now We Have Licensed Characters Edition would(also read as: will) work far better, because if you do a point-and-click adventure you end up writing really bad fanfiction and having to do an actual story that explains how these characters meet(and it never works well). It would suck gigantic balls.

I gamegasmed when I saw Max and Strong Bad. Didn't recognise the other two. Was hoping it might be an adventure game, but I doubt it.

Could Telltale be trying their hand on a fighting game?

SUPER TELLTALE FIGHTER!!! 100 HIT COMBO FROM STRONG BAD!!! ULTRAAAAAAAAA! ULTRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aah, fond childhood memories...

By the way, it still could be Tales of Monkey Island 2, shadows are liars, as you can see in this webcomic.

Someone already said it, but I've seen enough Tycho to recognize that form.

Still, I can't imagine a Telltale fighting game, so I likewise can't imagine what sort of cross over this could be.

Especially since the Penny Arcade guys would be new to the group.

I love the Penny Arcade card game--but I'm willing to bet it's Poker as well. I have no problem with that--especially since it's sure to be funny--but it'd be cool if it's a MTG/Penny Arcade style combat card game.

Bah, it's only a few days away--I refuse to speculate any longer. *storms off*

@Rather Dashing

Let's look at what's being crossed over here.

Sam and Max, where time-traveling mariachis send the souls of the recently deceased to Hell.

Homestar Runner, where everything created by a man with a wrestling mask and boxing gloves for a face and hands (from beefy-armed dragons to blue-haired anime characters) eventually becomes real. And he can type with boxing gloves on.

Team Fortress 2, where Abraham Lincoln was a flamethrower-wielding mercenary who invented stairs.

Penny Arcade, where owning a cardboard tube makes you a samurai and you can buy a machine that performs certain unmentionable acts with fruit.

Yes, a point and click adventure would require a plot, but it wouldn't have to make sense. In fact, if Telltale does go that route, I'd be disappointed if the plot did make sense.

You're all missing the point... Would these guys EVER play cards together? That spells hijinks to me! Playing cards with imaginary people!? You can't even handle it! I know... I'm trying to contain my head from exploding just thinking about it. But remember... it's about the cards man, the CARDS.

I love the idea of a poker crossover game. I agree with the person who said it wouldn't really make a good adventure game. It would be like back in the 80s when they would have those "Don't do drugs" crossover cartoons with all the different characters in them. Sure, it was fun to watch but as a story it sucked. It's just a gimmick.

But for a card game, it's a great gimmick. It's like Celebrity Poker for adventure gamers. I just hope the game's characters are more interactive than the ones in the original Texas Hold'Em. I want to see these characters really interact and talk to each other, instead of just tossing canned one liners at each other every few seconds.

I also hope they don't stop with just these four. Give us more! I know the legalities are probably messy, but getting Guybrush in there would be awesome! I'd even get a kick out of having Gromit as a player constantly rolling his eyes at everyone else. And bring in some of the great secondary characters - Bosco, Strongsad, Stan, Superball, Major Crum, Murray(!). And of course, Leonard Steakcharmer. ...and I know the horse is dead but I just have to say that seeing Phoney Bone in a poker game would have been epic.

Hmm. While every neuron in my brain screams poker game I do find it unlikely that work on something like that would consume the Brothers Chaps so much that they wouldn't update their site in...god knows how long. There might have been other good reasons for the hiatus, family perhaps, so I may be way off base.

Roll on tomorrow I can't wait.

The Chaps have also apparently been working on a movie for The Jim Henson Company. I do hope they get back to updating soon. But on the bright side, at least we know something new with Strong Bad is on the way.

One more day until we learn more!

My hopeful idea is that telltale is giving them all games. I really would love to see rainslick precipice of of darkness finish and it's been awhile since they've done anything with homestar. Even if they where all ports like all of them will be one the mac, xbox or playstation I would be happy. I havae an old PPC mac so I have yet to enjoy puzzle agent and I still haven't been able to play strongbad (no wii). If it were for sam & max moving to PS3 I would have never bought one, I fact I was just contemplating buy a new intel mac too.
