Great Scott! Doc Brown and Marty Are Headed Back to the Future...Again
Posted by Alan September 1, 2010

To coincide with this weekend's Penny-Arcade Expo we're letting loose some new information on our upcoming, five episode long, Back to the Future project. This is heavy.

First, get a load of the newly released concept art for Marty McFly and Doctor Emmett Brown from Telltale's Ryan Jones! That's right, we got Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd to contribute their likenesses to the game so you're going to be getting the authentic Back to the Future experience. You'll also be hearing the dulcet tones of Christopher Lloyd as he reprises his role as Hill Valley's local scientist.

The man behind the Back to the Future trilogy's screenplays, Bob Gale, is also involved in the creation of our game. He's been key to putting together the story beats for the game (1980s Hill Valley will be a key setting for the game) and has been in close communication with our team throughout the process. Don't be surprised to hear some choice uses of the word butthead in the game!

If you're heading to PAX, the Back to the Future fun doesn't stop with these announcements. We're featuring a DeLorean time machine that you can get your picture taken with during the expo! If you add the photo you take with the DeLorean to the Telltale Games Facebook page you'll be eligible to win some awesome Back to the Future prizes! We'll be announcing a new winner at 4 PM during each day of  of the expo. Stay tuned to our @telltalegames on Twitter and our Facebook page for information throughout the show.

FANTASTIC to hear that Christopher Lloyd will be voicing Doc! That could be your greatest achievement in casting yet.

I'm 100% backing this BTTF project, guys. Can't wait to hear more. :)

I assume this means no Michael J. Fox playing Marty McFly, then?

I was excited before, but hot dang! I'm even MORE excited this time around! And the art is phenomenal! Amazing to hear that Lloyd will be reprising his role, now I can't wait to hear who'll be Marty's. :)

I know it's not from Back to the Future, but can you get Christopher Lloyd to do his "I was frozen today!" line in the game?

YEAH this actually tells that the 80s is going to be a major location(1000 THUMBS UP), that theres biff(butthead), christopher lloyd and u have the original screenwriter!!!

This is so cool!!! Just hope the 3D thing gets a well adapted graphic version!!! or guys, why dont u keep it 2D??? you can have more exciting artworks, designs and scenarious in 2D i dont need 3d...Just a good story and good graphics, hope u get all the voice actors, the script of the game is gonna rock for sure!!!

This is so unreal!!! Great!

Sucks that you'll need a smart phone with a camera or a camera and laptop in order win the DeLorean prizes at PAX. This limits the amount of people that can enter, unless of course you provide the means to post a picture.

Can't wait to see this! Hopefully the character's won't have the molded-in-place clay-like hair look of the rest of the TellTale games. Doc's wipsy hair should react when he's running or if the environment is windy!

It would be awesome if they did facial motion capture during the recording sessions, and had the primary cast read/record together in those sessions.

I wonder if they'll be getting any up-and-coming stars to do the voice acting for the rest of the characters... I understand that Michael Fox is probably not well enough to do multi-hour recording sessions at this point. Maybe he can do a small cameo in the first (or last) episode of the season?

...as a fan of BTTF (which was led into the wonderful world of sci-fi) and a long time customer of ALL of your products since you began...

You secured Gale, and you secured Lloyd.

I could KISS ALL OF YOU for this.
(Which is a hefty statement when you discover I'm hetero! XD :) )

Beware my bizarre undying love when you secure Fox, Wilson and Thompson and do an awesome job on the games! XD :)

On a side note, does anyone else know Lloyd is leaping back into gaming, possibly ALSO hired for Toonstruck 2?
(Yes, after a LONG time!)

Is it too much to ask we get to use the DeLorean ourselves? Keypad, time circuits and all?
(People tinkering with GTA, Crysis, BTTFTime and other mods will DEFINITELY want it.)

So Michael J Fox IS in? Nobody else seems to have read the "That's right, we got MICHAEL J. FOX and Christopher Lloyd to contribute their likenesses to the game so you're going to be getting the authentic Back to the Future experience." Unless they just added that part.

Stoked.

@McGoiter - That says Fox allowed them to use his LIKENESS--ie, an appearance and demeanor based on his. It's still unconfirmed whether or not he'll do the voice.

Would be great if Michael J Fox signed on too but having Christopher Lloyd, and a BTTF game in general, is great news! I can't wait to fire up the time circuits and get that baby up to 88mph!
