Our International Talk Like a Pirate Day Plans
Posted by Alan September 15, 2010

We’ve got some exciting plans for International Talk Like a Pirate Day 2010, which is this Sunday, September 19!

What is International Talk Like a Pirate Day you ask? It’s simply a day where you say goodbye to the confines of proper language in favor of your favorite pirate-type words and expressions - someone observing the ‘holiday’ would say ‘Ahoy matey!’ instead of the usual ‘Hello’.

We take Talk Like a Pirate Day very seriously at Telltale (we have pirate cred to maintain with Tales of Monkey Island and all) so in celebration of this Sunday’s events we’re buckling the swash on the price on Tales of Monkey Island! From the evening of Friday, September 17 until early morning Monday, September 20 (Pacific Time) the full season of Tales of Monkey Island for PC and Mac is only $4.95! All we ask for in return is that you observe International Talk Like a Pirate Day to the fullest, ‘arrring’ your hearts out to everyone you come across.

What better way to get into the spirit of Talk Like a Pirate Day than to spend it spouting off your favorite buccaneer lingo while guiding Guybrush Threepwood through his adventures?

What are your plans for International Talk Like a Pirate Day? Let me hear it in the comments.

Starting Friday evening, go here to purchase Tales of Monkey Island for only $4.95! (This link redirects you to our Tales of Monkey Island hub page right now)

I'll be celebrating the 200 years of my Country this September 17, 18, 19 and 20 AND my mom birthday for September 19th. In other words, with luck I'll have time for a Grog. But well, have a blast anyway!

To celebrate, we're placing Sailor Jerry and Captain Morgan rum at half off, one day only. The joys of selling liquor...

Ah, Telltale. You know how to get money from me. I was going to buy TOMI again, and since it is for £3, how could I refuse? Thanks a bunch.

Oh, and I think I will annoyeveryone that day. Run in, steal something, shout "Arr! (INSERT PIRATE TALK)" Then run off. Then somemore pirate-ty things.

...and this sort of thing is why you don't buy telltale games immediately after they come out. Don't get me wrong, I love all the games but there always seems to be an open-for-all offer down the line that makes those who were excited enough for the game to buy it but too busy to actually play it yet think "I should have waited".

So I be waitin' fer the cut price version of Sam & Max season 3 before I be busting out me credit card this time. It be the (more) piratey thing to do (short of actually piratin' it which I be lovin' telltale too much ter do).

Happy swashbucklin'!

That's awesome. These kind of deals are a great opportunity to buy gift codes for the games and collect them for a good occasion. Christmas is not that far away and it's something great to throw in for little money. But since gift codes don't expire it doesn't hurt to save some of them for later.

I'd celebrate with a grog, but I'm trying to quit. I don't want to get hooked and go to Grogaholics Anonymous again.
