Time Circuits On: Back to the Future Release Date and Details
Posted by Alan December 15, 2010

First, here's the news everyone's been waiting for: the first episode of Back to the Future: The Game, It's About Time, launches for PC and Mac on Wednesday, December 22!

As a companion piece to the release date we're now confirming that all purchases of Back to the Future from the Telltale Games Store include a free Collector's DVD which will be published after the conclusion of the season for you to add to your collection - you just pay shipping and handling!

If you've purchased Back to the Future from us, the first episode will become available from the 'Your Games' button on our site (that's the joystick in the upper right corner) on December 22 (Pacific Time).

We're also updating the official Back to the Future: The Game site with five new pieces of art (one of which is above) to go along with each episode! You're probably wondering how you can get your hands on that art and perhaps use it as a desktop wallpaper, am I right? Well, we're resizing it for you guys and I'll update this blog with a link(s) to them when they're up. UPDATE: Get the wallpapers HERE - exclusively at BTTF.com!

This news means that there are only a few more days for you to take advantage of our pre-order bonuses which include a dollar donation from Telltale to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research and a free copy of Puzzle Agent! Come December 22, you'll have to take your DeLorean back in time to get in on that pretty rad deal!

Is this game coming out for Xbox360? I have posted this question on the facebook page several times with no reply. If it isn't coming out on Xbox360, what is the reason? Also when could we expect it to come out on Xbox360 as all of the other games from your company have seen a Xbox release. Thank you for your time.

Will this be available on Steam like S&M:Devil's Playhouse was?

^The 360 version isn't a thing because of Microsoft's sporadic and long approval process (At least I think so). Blame Microsoft. Also not every Telltale thing isn't on 360. Only 2 seasons of Sam & Max, and Wallace & Gromit.

would the PS3 release date be too far behind? I'm hoping sometime in January

Buying this for sure. Just curious if buying directly from TellTale will include a Steam unlock code? I've really enjoyed that feature in S&M Devil's Playhouse and Poker Night!

YES! We have a release date!!! One week from now!!!
:D

@kevin Keene It won't be coming to 360 because Microsoft has screwed Telltale over several times by constant delays of releasing episodes. For example, Wallace & Gromit, episode one was released around March 2009 alongside the PC release, and the final three episodes were delayed and released together in around October. Not quite what Telltale or the fans were hoping for. It wouldn't surprise me if Telltale does not use the Xbox for releasing their content alongside their PC releases again. They haven't released a game on 360 since Wallace & Gromit, It seems like they've settled on their alternate consoles to PC/Mac as PS3 and iPad (as proven by rereleases of their older games on these platforms)

HOWEVER...given that the demand for an Xbox release has been rather high (though I have no input in that, as I have no interest in the console), I could see Telltale releasing it on Xbox once the season is done as one complete game, but not whilst the game is also being released on PC at this site.

@Reluctant Hero: I don't think we'll have Steam unlock codes this time. Devil's Playhouse and Poker Night had that just because of the TF2 items.

Probably a stupid question that's been answered a million times, but the $24.95 preorder price is for the whole season, right? Not just the first episode?

GREAT SCOTT!! I'm very excited.
I have a question. I'm Italian, Someone knows If the upcoming first episode will be out with subtitles for others countries?? I remembered that Wallace and Gromit’s was made in this way, each episode included more subtitles, is it?
Anyway for the contrary, I don’t care, I’m so happy about the release of this game, I loved the movie series, so I’ll try to play it in English language 

I'm from Italy, and I wondered if the free Collector's DVD can be shipped to my country or is just for the U.S.A. I'm sorry, but I don't know this stuff because it's the first time I purchased a Tell Tale Game. Thanks :D

To all the people here, buying a TellTaleGames game for the first time:

It's a wonderful experience! I have bought 3 seasons of Sam & Max, and one season each of Wallace & Gromit, Tales of Monkey Island, HomeStar Runner and various other games. Paid them all through Paypal. (Prices of a full season are about $25, a single episode is about $8).

I live in the Netherlands and had all the free DVD's that comes out after the last episode of a season shipped to me. On one occasion I was lucky: there was free shipping when buying for a certain amount of money, so in addition to pre-ordering Sam & Max 3, I got the DVD of HomeStar Runner and Monkey Island Deluxe box plus the Monkey Island tarot cards all shipped to my front door with no extra costs.

Shipping of the free DVD is $7.87 so not really a deal breaker. Or you can just wait for another super deal to appear (like right now: order over $50 to be eligible for free world wide shipping).

As you can see I'm a returning customer and was never let down. I had to use customer service once (for a missing item) and was helped wonderfully (the missing item was shipped for free to me!).

I know this is a really small nitpick, but the Clocktower in the artwork wallpaper is wrong. Though traditional roman numeral clocks display the number four as "IIII", the makers of BTTF missed this and the clocktower in the movie uses the actual roman numeral "IV".

Super nitpicky, but figured I'd point it out.
Comment by Harry
December 16, 2010, 12:41 pm
@ Harry: In the game, it appears to be correct. You can see the clock at the end of the recently released IGN video featuring Marty and it is the roman numeral IV.

Those wallpapers are nice. The young Emmet one is a pretty cool bit of clever imagery... would have been neat to have a science-type scale on the right side, to counterbalance the justice scale on the left, and really hammer home that theme.

After seeing SentUAMessage on xbl today. I would just let you know that I would absolutely love if you were to release BTTF on XBL, or PSN for that matter. I would gladly pay handsomely for it, so I sincerely hope either Sony or Microsoft will show the same level of interest as it seems both their communities does. Fingers crossed

Releasing this on Steam would be very smart, the sheer amount of consumer base alone on Steam would be worth it, not to mention the advertising you could get by making it a feature item on Steams front page.
