Walking Dead: The Game Slides to iOS this Thursday! Update: OUT NOW
Posted by @telltalegames July 24, 2012

For weeks and weeks, many of you have been asking when we would finally be launching the first episode of The Walking Dead, ‘A New Day’ onto your brand spanking new iOS devices.  Up until now, we haven’t been able to give you a firm answer other than… ‘Soon!’  Today we are happy to announce that the wait for the undead apocalypse is *almost* finally over, and you will now be able to download the first episode of Walking Dead: The Game this Thursday, July 26th  from the App Store for $4.99! UPDATE: OUT NOW

Walking Dead iOS

We’ve spent a great deal of time carefully integrating our new interface design to create an even more intuitive experience with the touch screen as you explore a world ravaged by the undead based on the Eisner Award-winning comics from Robert Kirkman and Skybound Entertainment.  You’ll have full character control of Lee Everett as investigation points, actions, dialogue and decision making flows onscreen and is seamlessly integrated with the environments.

Walking Dead iOS

If you’ve yet to experience The Walking Dead’s first episode, you’ll be in for some tough decisions while balancing some unique relationships in this morally grey world, and it will all be carried over into future episodes that uniquely tailor your play though of the story.  Once you’ve purchased this episode for $4.99 USD, you can then opt to purchase future episodes individually for $4.99 from within the application, OR you can pre-purchase the rest of the series as a Multi-Pack [Episode 2-5 Bundle] for $14.99, saving you a total of 25% off the cost of buying episodes 2-5 individually.

Walking Dead: The Game is available in the iTunes App Store as a Universal app.  Walking Dead: The Game’s second episode, ‘Starved for Help,’ is still receiving some special development touches, and is rapidly approaching release as well.  We’ll be updating you right here on our site as soon as we have a firm date for its release on iOS.

We thank all of our fans once again for their patience on this release, and we hope you’ll enjoy what we think will be the best The Walking Dead experience we could make!  Remember, your choices, no matter how seemingly large or small – may all have an impact on your story as you play along with this episode, and within future episodes.  Pay attention to the stats screen after the ending to see where you stood in the heat of the moment amid some critical moments among a vast network of other players trying to survive.  Also, if you’re playing on your phone, iPad, or anywhere in public or in a loud environment – we strongly recommend the use of headphones!  Lastly, we’ll leave you with one final game play hint for the uninitiated once you start playing… ‘Pillow!’

Walking Dead: The Game launches this Thursday on iOS!

I'm one of the 'small percentage' of small, abandoned Mac users who can't download/play episode 2, and I'm now regretting buying it on the Mac. Looks like iPad would have been a better bet.

it seems to me That Telltale Games should be focused on getting their game out not spreading to difreant platforms till they lived up to their end of the contract. I for one wont be buying any of seassion 2 of the walking dead game till every episode is relesses this episdoic business is none seance

@Dark_Wolf You do realize this whole thing is based off of a comic book series right? TellTale is just mirroring the episodic nature of the comic books and show.

Dark_Wolf, the iOS version was supposed to release simultaneously with the other versions, and it didn't. It makes sense to let iOS users catch up, especially since over 30% of Telltale's revenue comes from iOS releases. I'd rather they spent more time making the last 3 episodes better quality games then releasing them sooner, anyway.

Im happy they decided to put out an iOS version of the game... But since I have it on the ps3 is there a point of me buying it?
Like really, its going to be the exact same thing and the exact same story line so im not sure whether I will invest money to buy this game PLUS extra for the episodes... I'm already dissappointed with my purchase on the ps3 cause im a European user... And we got episode 2 last.

I just purchased this morning for £2.99 and also the other episodes 2-5 for an additional £10.49 and very disappointed about how this first episode runs on my iPod Touch 4g. My iPod is only 6 months old so very new, but it lags and pauses and stutters - I have tried to reboot the device but it still runs very badly.... I really hope we get an update as soon as possible for this as I am really angry that it is spoiling this game for me...

Works fine on my iPad 3 but won't even load on my iPhone 4s. I think the price is a little out there. What would be great, for the amount of money I may spend to get all the episodes is if each location would be able to update one whichever platform I play it on.

I bought the game yesterday, as soon as it was released on the App Store.
I'm running it on iPhone 4 but the graphics are just awful, the gameplay is slow and freezes often, the audio is not sync with the video and the commands don't work properly.

The pics posted here might be taken from the iPad 3 version, I guess; they don't correspond to the actual gameplay at all, which is very low on quality, making the game impossible to be enjoyed.

I really hope an upgrade will be soon released in order to fix the game and make it work properly. For that high price it's not worth it.

Works fine on my iPad 3, love the experience so far. Do you plan on supporting the accelerometer to allow us to move the iPad to look around, instead of swiping with our fingers? I don't know how much development it would require but it would be so much fun and way more immersive!

So instead of console releases they make it for ipod instead. So now we've probably got to wait even longer. They should have released smaller episodes every week and have around 13-16 episodes in total but they should have been ready to release it so they knew they could meet the deadlines. iOS game should have been released after the series had finished. A lot of people are saying they should take as long as they need to make it high quality but they took ages and it's still full of bugs and lag.

On my way to Rome, I stopped in Dubai for four hours and took a walk through their Duty Free. I tried to stay out of Duty Free and I ended up not spending anything. Miracle. As I have been exercising the legs of jet lag, I spotted the store and saw a bag GAW-JUS of the latest collection. Orange. THE color fashion trend for spring / summer 2012. The price is around NZ $ 700.00. Gulp.

People who think they should just wait till all episodes are completed to release any are stupid.

They release the episodes as they are developed. If you want to wait for all the episodes before playing, then simply buy the season pas and wait till episode 5 is released before you play episode 1.

Oh wait, you're too impatient for that...ha...
