Posted by Laura February 28, 2013

Telltale is bringing Marty and Doc into 2013 – Back to the Future: The Game comes to iPhone on Thursday 7th March! The new universal app runs on iPhone 4 and up as well as iPad, and is in fact the FIRST Telltale app to support the 16:9 display on iPhone 5.

The new universal base app (Episode 1) will be FREE at launch for a limited time only – grab it while you can! All 5 episodes in the season will be available at once, so there’s no need to wait for the next installment. The base app (Episode 1) features an in-game menu where you can purchase Episodes 2-5 individually, or save by getting the Episodes 2-5 multi-pack for the special introductory price of just $9.99. This new in-game menu means that instead of existing as separate apps on your device, all your BTTF goodness is contained in one handy package.

Please note the release of the new universal base app means the superseded Back to the Future: The Game Episodes 2-5 will no longer be available for direct download in the App Store. Ownership of these episodes cannot be transferred to the universal app, so if these episodes are not backed up to the iCloud or kept on the device, they can no longer be acquired without purchasing the Episodes 2-5 multi-pack. Ownership of Episode 1 will transfer to ownership of the new universal base app.

25 Years of Sam & Max

Created by Steve Purcell, Sam & Max began their exploits in the indie comic book world with a daring adventure to the Philippines called "Monkeys Violating the Heavenly Temple" (drawn entirely without reference). After a series of follow-up comic books, the critically-acclaimed Sam & Max Hit the Road adventure game released in 1993. The dog and rabbity-thing duo moved to television in an award-winning animated series, an Eisner Award winning webcomic, and games for virtually every kind of gaming system.  As for Steve Purcell, among many other ground-breaking projects, he has gone on to co-write and co-direct one of the top grossing films of 2012: Pixar/Disney’s “Brave.”

Telltale CEO Dan Connors said, “We’re very excited to celebrate Sam & Max’s anniversary. Steve Purcell created something unique, funny and enduring that continues to grab new fans every single year; now’s the perfect time for gamers to see what all the fuss is about and for current fans to complete their collections with these special offers.”

“Sam & Max have always had a happy home at Telltale”,
said creator Steve Purcell. “They just “get” what Sam & Max is about and so these games are the perfect place to enter their world. It’s wonderful and gratifying that after 25 years, Sam & Max continue to make people happy and I’m excited that these offers provide gamers with an opportunity to play the marvelously inventive games that Telltale made. Here’s to another 25 years!”

We'd like to thank our fans for sticking with us along our crazy freelance policing adventures over the years, and ask that you share your favorite stories, artwork, and picures of their exploits!

Tweet to @telltalegames and hashtag #SamMax25 with anything related to our heroes to celebrate this momentous occasion.  One random and lucky winner on twitter will win a limited edition, DELUXE Sam & Max statue! Oh my! Winner to be announced at the end of September... Best of luck to our biggest fans!
