"Surfin the Highway is missing a few 2 to 3 page shorts that Purcell drew for Fox Kids magazine when the cartoon show was on the air. It's also missing a couple one page stripes done at the very end of the LucasArts Adventurer magazine which LucasArts put out a couple times a year until around 1997, and a 3 page Sam & Max Halloween comic which appeared in Wizard magazine sometime in the late 90s.
As for other Sam & Max comic appearances on the web or otherwise, there was talk of a Sam & Max strip to be syndicated in newspapers, but that didn't end up happening in the end. There's also one short Sam & Max flash animation which can be found across the web (and it will soon re-appear on Telltale's site) featuring Sam & Max dissecting an alien.
So, to summarize, yeah this here webcomic about Sam & Max in England is the only actual running Sam & Max storyline in years (aside from the new games, of course :))."
So my question is: where can I buy those comics which are missing from Surfin the Highway?
Thank you!

haha! that was well worth the wait.. those complaining should be thankful for every panel we get from Steve.. he is hard at work at Pixar..and uses his free time to help the guys out at telltale..and he has to write and illustrate this comic..and he has a family! cut the man some slack.

Hooray! The first brand new Sam and Max comic I've seen since I became a Sam and Max fan! ^_^
(I'm a newb, but I know everything there is to know about the games. Still working on half the cartoons and all of the comics.)

Dear please_answer,
You can probably find them on eBay if you search very hard. Otherwise, you're out of luck. There were versions of many of them online at www.samandmax.net - my old site - but that site's currently not all online after a server explosion. It should be back sometime this year.
Hopefully that was helpful, though I doubt it. :(
Your friend,
Jake

A whole book would be nice. Guess Steve has other responsibilities now. Pixar and kids and wife.

Jake, I found 3 page Sam & Max Halloween comic ("belly of the beast")
I also found some comics from Fox Kids magazine: first one is just one page long("action figure surgery"), second one is two pages long("kids take over!").
And finally I found "Sceptical Investigators in Oni Double feature issue 10" which is one page long...
So please can you confirm that those comics which I wrote are that comics that are missing from Surfin the Highway? And which else comics am I missing?
Can you describe me that couple one page stripes done at the very end of the LucasArts Adventurer magazine which LucasArts put out a couple times a year until around 1997? Do they have specific titles?
Thank you...
Brilliant! Keep it coming! I just read the whole thing from the first episode and it's great! I love it! I can't wait to find out where this is going... It seems like it could go on for a while yet! (Yay!)

thanks again for the free comic!
though, i have to say i was disapointed : \
not too funny, and what's up with the last line of dialogue...? "belly full o' you" ? is she mad? her expression doesn't look mad, though she doesnt really even have any kind of expression
anyway you probably did this really quick as to get another comic out (hopefully)
i'm sure the next one will be better

One can never tell when the British are upset. :-| But yes, she is. ;) After all, dear Sam just committed Alcohol Abuse. And with something analgious to Guiness no less. Regardless, hooray for this spiffy form of comic featuring the demented coffee-achiever Max!

People who harshly critique free webcomics are among the worst people on Earth.
Keep up the great work, I grew up loving Sam n Max, now I'm grown up and love Sam n Max.
WoW. The art itself is just stellar. But the story was so adorable. So glad to see Sam and Max making a comeback! Now if only they'd release the Animated Series in a DVD Box set!
"People who harshly critique free webcomics are among the worst people on Earth."
First of all my critique was not harsh, it was honest. Just because this webcomic is free does not mean that it should be free of criticism.
I love Steve Purcell's work & I love Sam & Max. I am also extremely grateful for this webcomic. Sam & Max are hilarious and I feel the comic medium best utilizes their style of humor (which is dialogue heavy).
This particular comic had little to no dialogue and the dialogue that it DID have was, in my opinion, not very funny.
But aside from that, my main gripe was with the bartender. We are supposed to believe that she is "upset" or about to be upset (judging by her "belly full of you" line), yet neither her expression OR her body language tells us this. On top of that, she looks like a man. This just struck me as lazy since I know for a fact that Mr. Purcell is an amazing artist and easily could have done better.
Now, like I said before, I am assuming this particular installment was weak because it was done quickly (in order to get another comic out for the fans) which is fine. I just hope the next installment will be drawn & written with a little more love and attention.
On a side note, I am an animator and artist myself and I bust my ASS making FREE web animation all the time; and guess what? negative reviews & criticisms are plentiful and I can totaly handle them as I'm sure Mr. Purcell can as well.

I love Sam & Max as well as classic adventure games but I have also just come across this particular web-series. I have just read it from the beginning to now and I must say I wish I had waited until it had concluded. I don't know if I can wait another few months for the next page. At this rate only a few more pages will be released by the time the new episodes hit retail.

Complaints about freebie stuff on the internet get ignored about as fast as you can make them.
I know S&M too many years before. Hit the Road game was very fun. The new games are not bad. But i dont like Sam & Max comics. They have good quality of visuality but stories are not well enough. Maybe Mr. Purcell give the professional writers to write the stories.

constructive criticism should never be ignored; and all of my critiques were valid unless someone would like to prove otherwise?

You didn't offer any constructive comments, only a simple opinion. A lack of argument doesn't prove you right, even if you had said something that was objectively provable. The condescending tone really sticks in my craw, though. Craw. Craw. Is that a word?
What was your website again?

Purcell makes this comic here in his spare time, for charity, on a make by make basis. How can you make a complaint about that and ask for more? Purcell must be extremely irritated. Everyone should just tell Purcell thank you.
Thank you Purcell.
