Graphic settings???

posted by Nefertiti on - last edited - Viewed by 86 users

I have been trying to play Tales of Monkey Island on my computer, but the X pointer jumps all over the screen. I read on a previous post that I need to adjust my graphic settings. I am totally lost here because I just got a new computer with Windows Vista on it and I have no idea what to adjust, so if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it! :)

Go into your settings menu, there will be little arrows, use the arrows until you see something about Quality level, turn it down until it runs smoothly, and maybe lower the resolution if necessary.

  • Thanks Pale Man for answering my post. The problem is that with Vista ( I wish I had my XP back) I can't figure out what settings because there is 3D, screen resolution, color resolution, etc. Everyone talks about some adjustment of 1 through 9 and I have nothing like on this computer that I can find. Thanks again for trying to help though.

    Hello there Nefertiti!

The menu people are referring to, is actually in-game.

    1) Escape to bring up the menu (if you can't see it already)
    2) Settings
    3) Then browse to video/graphics
    4) Click the quality level down a few notches

I re-read your first post, and if your pointer indeed hops about the place, then this might be a bit hard to accomplish. Post back if you cannot seem to be able to modify the settings.

  • ^ This, and turning down the resolution makes the most difference.
To be sure, you should turn all settings down to the lowest possible, and work yourself up step for step until you reach your PC's limits.
That's definitely faster than going the other way round, since the cursor jumps around and such :D

  • With the cursor jumping around, it's just because the screen isn't able to update as often, the mouse is still moving even when you can't see it move, so you just have to move it very slowly and carefully.

I here ya. I got a brand new Sony Vaio laptop and in full settings, it runs like crappe. Easily said this is a suprising beast of a game. Currently running on the 3rd lowest res.
