Question about the S&M CD

posted by Nicke on - last edited - Viewed by 457 users

Hello there..

I have some questions about the cd I've read about. According to the text you guys wrote:

(Soon after episode 6 launches, you can get a disc version of Season 1 for the price of shipping.)

1. Is this CD going to contain the standalone installation files for each episode or is it a complete wizard?
2. Will the CD be boxed?

Moving on to the last question, acording to:

Remember, there will be six episodes in Season 1

If you continue to do any episodes will they launch as Season 2 then?

Best Regards
Nicke

  • We're not really talking about the details of this stuff yet, but I can tell you at least that it will install all six episodes and have some sort of launcher (how it works is still being worked on) ... But the individual episodes will still be self-contained; they won't "be one game" or something, because they were never designed as one long game :) They'll be accessible from a common launcher menu, though. Think about it like a TV show on DVD - they don't combine the episodes into one mega episode, they all still remain unique with their own opening and closing, but they're all collected into one place and you can choose which one to watch. Also, it will be in a DVD case. We're going to make it a classy affair. We won't just be mailing people a paper sleeve or something.

And yes, if we do any more episodes, they'd be called Season 2 or some other thing. Sam & Max Season One comes to a close with Bright Side of the Moon. :)

  • here is what i would like to see.....

i would like to see a menu with a realtime 3d render of sam and max in the background doing something random that changes each time you visit it, (Ex. sitting on the couch watching tv, shooting beer cans on the window sill, playing a mysterious pinball machine that comes out of nowhere, etc....)

in the foreground, there will be a button for each episode and a pop up global options menu (the options selected here will be applied to each episode) when you click on an episode button an info box will come up with a launch button, and a popup viewer where you can watch the machinima shorts leading up to that episode (episode 1 will have the "making of" video that is on gametap, and you can view the concept art for the episode from this window as well)

after you complete the episode and you are returned to the main menu..... and the next episodes button will be lit up big and bright telling you which episode you are on (episode one will be lit up from the start)...... after you play through all 6, they will all light up at the same time (before it is time to play an episode, it will be dim and the color of the button will be faded) but you can still click on an episode and play it, even if you have not reached it yet..... maybe you can have sam and/or max say something when you are trying to start the wrong episode.......

maybe you can also add a short tutorial, where you learn how to play the game (and get your feet wet)..... make a short story (only about 5-10 minutes) where they have to something, like take care of max's pet monkey (or something stupid like that) and you learn the interface, how to use items, interact with people, etc....and you can make it so you do not have free control untill you start episode 1

you can post the tutorial as the "official" demo online as well (instead of having 6 seperate demos)

  • Thanks a lot Jake, your answers were the exact thing i was looking for. Just gotta wait for the box now.

Hmm is it possible to order the box now and then you will get it once you guys have it in stock?

That's going to be possible very soon. We're just doing some research on international shipping right now to make sure we set it up in a way that's user-friendly for all of our customers. As soon as we're comfortable adding the disk to the store as a preorder, we will!

Splendid, Im going to check the Telltale Store every now and then, but would it be possible from your side to maybe announce it in this thread or something simmilar when the CD season 1 gets in stock? Don't want to miss out the opportunity :)

Subscribed for the Telltale's Monthly Newsletter & Big News, New posts in the Blog, Game Updates - Sam & Max and Press Releases. Think that should be enough :)

  • So it looks like the dvd is coming soon, in mid-June according to what you wrote.I've been waiting for this dvd to come out so i could have all the episodes infront of me without waiting to wait between them.

I misunderstood the part where you need to have the season 1 before ordering this dvd, i thought you could order the dvd for a full price without needing any previous code or whatever -> come back to this page and enter your Season 1 order number, and we'll take care of the rest

So how is the best way to proceed?

    buy the
    http://www.telltalegames.com/store/samandmax-season1

    or ?

  • Yes, buy the season set now, and when the disc is available you will need to enter your order number on this page to get the disc.

If you are planning to buy any other merchandise and want to save on shipping, wait to buy that until the disc is available so all your merchandise ships together.
