TWD: My episode 2 choices are not being carried over to episode 3

Some one please help. I have already payed for the season pass as soon as this game came out and I cannot wait to play every episode. I just downloaded episode 3 for my PS3 and my Episode 2 choices will not carry over to episode 3. I have not started playing Episode 3 because every time I select episode 3 a message comes up saying: "Generate random story decisions for skipped episodes?" Of course I select NO. Part of the fun of this game is the fact that your decisions affect future game play. I do not want to play without my decisions being carried over. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!! i have gone to episode 2 and have replayed the ending 3 times but the date and time stamp on the last saved game does not up date. I NEED HELP!! I really enjoy the game and it would be a shame if this does not get fixed. If my decisions are not going to be carried over then what else may be wrong with episode 3? Why should I even continue playing, or even recommend, this game if this crucial element is missing?

Thank you for your time in advance.

  • So far I noticed that Carly is alive when I had saved Doug... I don't know its the only inconcistency I've noticed.... but I don't know what to do now.

  • Found out whats going on. In the process of recovering an old save with the timestamp overwrite method the game does not recognize that I played through 1.

Its odd because Doug is alive when I rewind 2 but... idk.

So I assume that the game is reading the episode 1 info about the choice and by default picking Carly.

Choices choices.... do I replay ALL of the exactly as before or do I continue along :(

  • I'm having this same issue on PSN. Hopefully there'll be a fix released for this soon so I can actually properly play through it.

  • I'm having the same problem here on my Steam version of the game. I try to load up Episode 3 (having already played through 1 and 2 on my file) and it asks me if I want to "Generate Random Decisions."

I thought maybe the game didn't save after Episode 2, so I played through the ending again. After the credits, my second save slot has been deleted and the game no longer acknowledges that I have Episode 3 installed.

I've tried reinstalling the entire game, but it hasn't changed anything.

I have my saves back, but Episode 3 still won't start without generating random decisions.)

  • The Steam version of the game is reading my files entirely wrong. It reads one game as not even having completed Episode 1 while it was done with Episode 2 before, and the other mid-way through Episode 2 when it was done with Episode 2, with different choices from earlier if I finish it out no less. This is incredibly frustrating. So much of why I love this game is that my choices carry through and do so well, but now it looks like if I want to make sure that my game is my game I'm going to have to replay through the first two episodes, which is not something that I like. So much of the point to me is that I DON'T go back and change decisions.

The game also randomly decides that I don't have Episode 3 installed even though it was just installed on the main menu.

I hope that this is something that can be patched and isn't a permanent effect of downloading the new episode. I have given this game glowing reviews and I don't want that to change.

  • Perhaps not a permanent solution, but one I wouldn't mind seeing is a quick "Scene Choices Selection" so you can just run through the various quick questions and answer yes or no to build your save back to normal. My episode 3 is completely backwards from where I originally had it and while I enjoy the game, I don't want to "explore" new options till I finish my original story.

I am experienceing exactly the same issue; I've tried rewinding episode 2, but always start at the point when I'm walking away from the farm - even if I choose a completely different chapter to rewind to.

The timestamp on the save files is not updating, no matter what I do; I can't even copy saves within the game.

I would greatly appreciate a fix for this asap, as I'm very invested in the choices I made and don't want to start over...

    Thanks in advance.

Any news on this telltale? Please take people's frustration as a compliment - it's testament to how invested people are in the story you are telling, and the choices they made...

...but it is still incredibly irritating to pay up front for a series of items, only to have them not functioned as advertised. Communication with your customers would certainly alleviate many's anxiety, so please just let us know if you're working on a fix for this issue!

    Thanks.

  • Still no response from TTG, while their twitter continues to regularly post, and the same with the forums, even though this is more than half the topics on the first page.
Gotta love good customer service, especially considering we've all paid up front.
    Absolutely terrible.
