Give us an Alternative Ending where Lee lives

Why is this important to me. If Lee doesn't get bitten, we open season 2 with Clem & Lee sitting on the stump. She is getting older now and truly thinks of Lee as a father to her now. Things are only going to get worse in season 2 but it would be cool to watch the 2 of them rely on each other to get by. I like the idea of those 2 characters continuing to evolve as well as choices being made in the 2nd season that could lead to one, both, or neither of them dying in season 2. Just knowing if I screw up in season 2 it could lead to the demise of Clem or my beloved Lee, would make each moment, each decision, that more intense.

The TV-Series and the comics differ in many ways, the game being a lot closer to the comic than the TV-Show. The game has nothing to do with the TV show, and good thing, because the TV show has some terrible writing at times.

Pretty naive to think the TV-Show has no influence on the game itself. You don't think the developers recognize that the vast majority of players have watched the TV-Show, and not read the comic?

So that's why they are gonna bring more characters from the TV-Show, over to the second season of the game? I am not sure which characters they are talking about, which are only in the TV-Series, as i have not read the comics yet, but i plan to.

It doesn't matter whether or not the player has seen the TV show. The themes of the game more closely match the comic, and there are no TV-exclusive characters in the game. Obviously the TV show influenced the game's creation, as the Walking Dead franchise's popularity is at an all-time high, but nothing is directly taken FROM the show.

"The team is looking at ways to allow the community to stay connected with one another during and between episodes. There's also talk of perhaps tying the game, or at least the game's characters, in closer with the show."

That has nothing to do with season 1 of the game, and many on this forum (including myself) are opposed to such a thing. There is nothing official about that statement, either, it is just a possibility. Obviously, Telltale wants to increase the popularity of the game by tying it into the TV series, but it would be detrimental to the game's overall quality.

Also, Telltale has a license to create games based off of the comic, not the TV show. They legally cannot include TV-exclusive characters.

  • It would be nice to have a DLC i suppose, where there is a different ending.

  • If they make an alternate version there should be more lasting effects than Lee not getting bitten. Some can't be changed because they are too closely tied to the plot e.g Duck dying. But some decisions should be available e.g saving Carley/Doug from Lilly or saving Kat.

For instance if you pour most of your affection to Lilly then she won't shoot Carley/Doug without warning rather threaten to shoot instead therefore giving many options as to the outcome of the scene. Also making sure Lilly leaves as you leave her or she leaves on her own. Or you can choose to leave her during the bandit raid resulting in a more reasonable discussion about the traitor. It won't have much of an impact but would still be nice to have that option. Saving Kat could be you have a conversation where you convince her that she should live for Ducks sake or something.

This is the walking dead so a perfect ending will seem ridiculous to some but it doesn't have to be perfect. Just the option to save certain people by making a lot of certain decisions along the way. Say siding with Lilly all the time resulting in Kenny to hate you with a passion but gives the option to save Carley/Doug from Lilly making the game a bit more harder because of Kenny's affection loss. It will also enable a lot more content in the game with character arcs and all that providing a lot more experience for some people and making a lot of people happy with the product.

If the only thing holding them back is the budget well I'm pretty sure a lot of people will pay a decent amount of money for an alternate version. Maybe release it as an all-or-nothing pack so if you want it you get it for all episodes. I know I'd buy it. I just want a happyish ending where I can save a few more people, Perfect ending for me would be Lee and Carley as Clementines foster parents and Kenny finally gets his boat :D

  • Hell NO! Walking dead is not a fairytale, it is tragedy/drama. Also the way this game seems to working is more like "choose the way of how to reach your destination" and not "choose your destination".

  • I picked the Clem option on the poll. I know what you are thinking, 'WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WANTS CLEM BIT'

Don't get me wrong, I don't at all, however I think that would a amazing what if episode. Imagine it, Lee finds her in that pile, she has been bit. Instead of it being about saving Clem, it turns into a reverse of what happens with Lee and Kenny on the train. The episode is about Lee getting the boat, and him acting like everything is okay. Clem's parents could be okay but completely insane and they would be the big bad for the episode, while the stranger hunts Lee down and Vernon's group show up and try to kill Clem after finding out shes bit (Hey if they can steal the boat from you I don't think that is too far a stretch) In the end it's Lee and whoever he chooses in the episode (Based on how you act, not you actually picking) should come on the boat. In the end you have to decide how to deal with Clem. You can't take her on the boat (for obvious reasons) so you have to leave her on land. Lee can chose to give up his place on the boat so someone else can go and he'll stay with Clem in her last moments. Or you put her out of her misery, unless someone elses tells you to which they then can do. Afterwards there is a small section where you can choose to either get on the boat, stay behind, or kill yourself on the spot. Happy ending I know.

This season was all about being clem-clem's babysitter/knight/father. So if clem-clem had been bitten, ttg would have nuked the fridge. Telltale did the right thing, by killing lee. I am not sure about s2, though. I just hope twd won't follow heroes (tv show) fate.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer the original. I just think for a one off it would be a interesting concept. Depressing as all hell too.

Hey, I didn't get you wrong. I didn't mean to argue with you. I was more like trolling. Sorry.

It's not naive, it's fact. TTG's TWD game was based off of the comics. They have no legal right (at least as of S1) to base any aspect of the game on the show. Also, if they were to try to include characters or events from the TV show that weren't in the comics at this point, not only would they (more than likely - I'm hardly a lawyer) have to get rights from Activision, but AMC, as well. They'd have to charge much more for the game, and the story arc would absolutely suck.

I can tell that you have not read the comics, you didn't need to include that. Read the first compendium (think it ends around comic, what guys? like 48-ish?), and you will be pretty much caught up with where the show ended last night. Once you read the comics, you will understand the truly huge difference between the comics and show. The show took a hit, and from what I've heard, Survival Instinct (based on the show not the comics) has nothing on TTG's TWD game.

I know it's been said already in this thread, but I wanted to solidify the statement. I know that myself and many others would be horribly disappointed if S2 was suddenly based more on the show. Like I want to be playing a cheating wife who can't back up her own husband? Or a guy who refused to man up until the last possible moment?

Seriously, read the comics. I'd be willing to say that all of the characters have better backbones in the comics. There's not so much love drama, and there's a lot harder edge to it. It's much better than the show.
