Mention of Carley/Doug

I don't want to sound annoying but am i the only one who is irritated that Doug/Carley don't get mentioned in episodes 4 and 5 ever again , unless Campman mentiones them so then he can find a reason to criticize our choices , or you get Carley as an option to " Have you ever hurt someone you care about " conversation unless you accused Carley of stealing which is unfair .
It's as if Telltale wants us to forget about them completely , pretend that they never existed and that they never brought so much impact on Lee like Lilly , Larry and Kenny's family
I though that in the attic scene it would be the perfect opportunity to mention Doug/Carley to Omid and Christa and tell them :
If you saved Carley Lee will say that she was a great friend , she helped him with his past and he may have fallen in love with her .
If you saved Doug Lee will say that he was a great friend a bit weird but always to wanted help people
But unfortunately you never get that option , i hate how they can mention Lilly , Larry and Kenny's family but you can't mention the people who always helped Lee , who always agreed with him and never demanded loyalty from him .
What are your thoughts on this ?

  • We can never forget Doug and Carley! I wish they had come up a little more concretely later in the season, just for a moment, and I think they have more than zero presence, but it was definitely not our intention for you to forget them forever.

I feel like there was a missed opportunity to reminisce about them or other fallen friends (Chuck in particular) in the attic scene. What with Kenny talking about his history with Lee and how a lot of people lost family, it seemed like a natural opportunity to mention whichever supporting character the player missed most.

  • ^That, or a tender moment with Clem in the store before dying :P

I agree that they have more than a zero presence simply by, ironically, no longer being there, especially in Carley's case, because Lee has basically lost his most dependable, "will follow you no matter what" ally. Like I said in another thread, everything after episode 3 felt pretty lonely. And TTG did a solid job creating that emptiness through the characters.

And I think it's precisely because of this that Lee should have been given the opportunity, if only briefly, to show that he misses those characters. The attic scene would have been great as Jaded said. Kenny is given the chance to mourn, but Lee wasn't really given that chance, which is a wasted opportunity to flesh out Lee's character. Despite his responsibility to Clem, Lee's still human after all.

  • Dang, now I wish we were able to that now. Would have been nice to tell a story about Carley saving Lee's ass in front of the pharmacy, or make sure the memory of Doug's epic alarm system lived on. Hell, I bet something nice even could have been said about Larry.

Kenny already covered Larry. He said Larry was "built like a brick shithouse". There's no doubt in my mind that's the nicest thing anyone has ever said about Larry in his entire life. :D

  • Not mentioning Carley/Doug annoyed me as it felt like their deaths didn't really affact Lee especially since in Carley's case she was the person Lee was closest to besides Clem. Although I applaud the wrters for creating that feeling that you were truly alone and that you couldn't really trust anyone anymore.

  • Yeah you'd think that after seeing the reactions of Doug/Carley's death that Telltale would make a scene were Lee is mourning their deaths just to get some closure but no , i wish they give us an option to tell Omid and Christa about Doug/Carley .
You know what's really sad , is that when season 2 will come up these two great characters will be forgotten forever along with Mark , Chuck , Katjaa , Duck , Kenny , Larry except for Clementine and maybe Christa and Omid , with Molly i don't know and Lilly will probably appear .

  • Lots shall be simply forgotten it seems. No lie, I expected Omid to go "so Lee... You had any special lady out there?" Kinda joke, and the option to bring up Carley or his ex. It seemed to be plausible at the time.

The chance for the remaining survivors giving some final thoughts on everyone we had met and lost would have been nice.

Though mentioning it now, I think the fact that I was the only one who ever mourned Chuck was the one that bothered me the most. You could say his probable death went without saying for most of the group, but he really did deserve more than dieing alone and forgotten in the sewers. A thoughtful remembrance for the guy would have been a nice juxtaposition to what little we knew about his life...
