Not only is the 360 controller capable of working on Windows, Microsoft is pushing for PC game developers to support the 360 controller to boost hardware sales. The earlier comment about it working on W&G was referring to the PC version of the game. (If it wasn't, then I'll confirm that sentiment myself.)

It was, I was playing W&G with an XBOX 360 controller attached to a notebook computer, this gave me the comfort of a console, which is mainly sitting in the living room in a cozy chair.

And yes Microsoft is pushing the XBOX 360 controller big time on a PC, there are certain limitations, if a games for windows title supports gamepads (which they mostly do because they also are released on the xbox most of the times) it has to support the xbox controller as standard controller!

I am not sure since I do not work at TTG how the control scheme of Monkey Island will be but I assume that the XBOX controller still will work!
    At least I hope so!
(Actually I am looking forward to it to play TMI in the living room like I did with W&G)

Yes and no. You can use the analog stick to move Guybrush, but you'll still have to use a mouse to control the cursor. It's a bit weird but it works

Perhaps someone should suggest 360 controller implementation to TT. People ought to be able to use the second analog stick for mouse movement (and map the rest of the functions to whatever button they want). Perhaps they wouldn't even need specific support for the 360 controller if they implemented a system that let you map all of the functions to whatever buttons you wanted.

  • Not sure if Tales actually supports the 360 controller, but you can download a program called XPadder which lets you map keys to buttons on the controller (like you can make the left stick press W,A,S,D etc.)

  • yeh like the other poster said you can use the stick to control guybrush but you cant use the other stick for the mouse cursor which is a bit strange so just use xpadder to emulate the mouse with the right stick.

  • Something like that could work.

Still, if TT implemented a way for players to assign buttons/analog sticks (from any gamepad or joystick) to various functions (including mouse) ingame w/o using an external program, that would make it a bit easier/more streamlined.

  • Wow, thanks for mentioning Xpadder. It's amazing & a much better alternative to keys. I really like using a pad & a mouse at the same time, it feels really good. :D

I have wasd mapped to the left stick, shift on LT, Esc on LB & arrow keys on d-pad. Works great, Thank you to whoever mentioned it first! :)

  • Proper 360 controller support would be awesome though, for all your games.
Have to use xpadder in the mean time.

  • Alternatively, you can use this autohotkey script. I primarily wrote it because I was too cheap to hand over €10 for XPadder :)

Ah yes, of course, paying... I did that. :p
