What format would you like the games be in DVD release?

This thread is not about DVD's release date, mind you.

So, anyway, I think the question is pretty understandable. Personally, I would like it to be one full game. Don't mind one full game with ability to choose chapters, though.

  • I can't say if it's possible, but one game with ability to choose chapter sounds nice... It would need an aplication which starts new episode with the end of previous one (and without credits).

  • I see it like this: They compile all the games together to run without stopping. You take out any repeats used in the previous chapter shown again for story reasons, and delete the voodoo lady's rants. Theoretically, this would give it the appearance of "A Full Game"

  • I chose 'One full game with ability to choose chapters' only because I love options. If I was forced to choose only as a full game or only as chapters I'd choose only as chapters. It's how the game was made and how it was intended to be played.

In fact it ain't. As the thread was opening, I wondered what you mean by "format":
    .EXE or .COM?
    4:3 or 16:9?
    NTFS or FAT32?
    Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS?
    ...

about your question: the original versions the games were released in, sans bugs, plus Earl Boen for Ep 1. I doubt you can "glue" the episodes back to back, as they have their own structures, long sections for puzzle solving, dramatic highlights and climaxes. Also, I would hate having to lose Voodoo Lady's intros, title sequences and Murray commenting on end credits in Ep3.

Murray could comment of the end credits of the WHOLE FREAKING SERIES.

They'd almost certainly have to redub it. A) the credits would be much longer and B) the people he comments on wouldn't be in the same spots at the same time.

Don't tell me it's not worth it :)

  • I think everybody would agree full game with ability to choose chapters is best, because this would allow us all to get our way.

If I had to choose, i'd say one large series. Because S&M pulled it off, but I think the story was a little different to the MI story. I can't really explain it, but the MI game as 1 big ep would feel pretty epic, and give a good chance for people to compare the feel to the other games (I think ToMI would benefit a lot from having the same format as CoMI etc.).

For me, the episodic way of playing it works fine when it's first being released. But if you watch a TV show on DVD, you don't expect the ad-break screens to still be in!

    I miss Murray already... :(

  • I think the "full game" idea is nice in theory, but probably wouldn't work in practice. And it would, likely, be a logistic nightmare.

Also, I would(for example) greatly prefer to get effort put into great extras. I think the idea of pasting things together is more of an issue for those that inherently hate the episodic format. For the work involved, I just don't see much benefit to me.
