listen closely... because the lyrics are completely based on monkey island 1!!
:guybrush:
those guys (from germany btw) are truly awesome, just saw them live in concert last week in zurich/switzerland :)

three trials before you leave the shore:
mastering the sword,
learn the art of thievery
and find treasures galore

get a ship and a crew of three
and search the foreign lands
and when the wind of hell embraces thee
you'll gain the idol of many hands

BRIDGE:
a black sky above, our kingdom beneath
die in the waves or live on your knees

CHORUS:
come, raise the flag of the fallen
we reign the storm and the seas
and live our lives on the brink of death
WE'RE PIRATES! and we are free

Prove your courage and touch the gruesome winged devil
trust the navigator's head
for all the rum and grog don't forget to revel
for tomorrow you could be dead

and beware of falling in love at all
or your heart will beat inside a chest
'guess you figured it out - what I recall 's
another story from another quest

note the parrot on his shoulder @3m15s :D

and of course the nice wenches at 3m47s ;)

My thoughts exactly - pitch the vocals up by at least an octave so you can understand them and throw out most of the waaay-to-distorted guitar...

np: Underworld - Air Towel (Second Toughest In The Infants (Disc 1))

Huh, I would say up the speed of the guitarparts, and hire a WAY more grunch (? I had the proper word in my head until making this post, damnit!) lead singer, cause this doesn't sound piratish.

But that may be my musical preferences.

    i think so ;) i like it a lot.

orden ogan is just true (melodic power) metal, not nu metal or crossover stuff that has little do to with real metal :p not sayin that there's anything wrong with that ;) just different preferences.

maybe that's not the typical style american guys are used to listen, but it's very popular in europe  although also here it's surely not something which will make it into the (shallow mainstream) charts.

so of course if you don't like true metal, you won't like orden ogan ^^

Great lyrics but I don't like the kind of music either.
Here's another great pirate song: I could'nt find an original version on youtube so: some Pirates of the Carribbean scenes with the great song Black Flag Flying. :D enjoy!

Would black, death or industrial metal be "real metal"? Cause that's what I like to listen to ;).

    I wouldn't know, I am dutch :p.

True - but if you want to be 17th century authentic you can't use electric guitar anyway... :D

Something akin to Jah Wobble & The Invaders of the Heart's "English Roots Music" (yes, I do love that album - why do you ask?) probably fits a lot better...

(As for metal - well, we have a steel mill around here; that's the ideal resting place for metal as far as I'm concerned... :D)

  • Great song, although I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much without the video accompanying it. The lyrics are obviously inspired by Monkey Island, but that's about the only similarity I could find - except that the video seems to take place at "The Scum Bar". :) Thanks for the tip, darko. I just looked up the band on Spotify and I like it.

it's not within the "true" metal genre - as defined by the gods of manowar *gg* - but surely i would consider it very real metal :D not than i'm an expert or something ;) actually i don't take all that genre discussion very serious, i like many different styles. you can find shitty and great music equally in most genres ^^
