BTTF The Ride: 2

OK, so I know this has been discussed a number of times, but surely us hardcore fans can at least get a thread together that's so popular and has such good feedback, that Universal will take it seriously and consider an updated BTTF ride?

The ride was absolutely legendary, and still held its own against the likes of the amazing Spiderman right up until the day that it came to an end. I was lucky enough to experience the BTTF ride not only as a kid, but also in adulthood. I was devastated when I heard the news that it was being replaced. Not only was this ride epic, it was heritage, a true testament to the creaters, Universal Studios, and their park.

This isn't a Simpsons bashing thread by any means. It's a great ride and deserves a place in the park. I have to commend the design team highly, and I'm really looking forward to going on this again when we visit this October, but surely Universal should/could have extended or kept half of the building as BTTF whilst giving it a bit of an update?

It's good that Universal have kept some key parts of the film around the park, but if anything, it reminds me of some of the best times of my life, and that I can no longer ride it again. I guess i'd rather have these bits around for memories than not at all, but it's just a strange feeling.

I'm betting that BTTFs true popularity was gauged from their recent(ish) re-release of the Trilogy on Blu-Ray. Surely they can see that there is still a humongous fanbase for a BTTF attraction? This is the kind of film that gets more popular with age so would be a worthy investment for Universal also.

I'm now 25 so this film came out the year I was born. 25 years later, and it's one of, if not THE best film(s) i've ever seen. Films these days just don't seem to have the excitement of the 80s/90s. They all depend too much on special effects and bad/cheesey acting rather than hard work and a true passion for excellence like BTTF.

I realise this has been done many times on the likes of Facebook and various other sites, but I'm hoping that giving Universals official involvement with this excellent game series, and the huge fanbase here, that this thread can hopefully grow and be highlighted by the developers and mods to the powers that be.

Perhaps your name should be publicjoker..? Anyone who is signed up here but doesn't want a new ride is clearly insane and/or isn't a true BTTF. I just don't understand.

TellTale forums ISN'T the BTTF forum. :V

  • I would so go for a new BTTF ride. It had shut down before I had heard it was even in existence. It kinda sucks cos I've always to go to universal studios.

  • Man, I love Back to the Future, but you're really over-estimating its drawing power. It's been twenty one years since the last one came out. Not to mention the fact that it will be awful silly going into a futuristic year 2015 when it's actually 2015. :P

I'm not saying that they're BETTER then BTTF, but do you really think Back to the Future would bring in more people then something current?

I'm afraid he's right. And before anyone brings up the game, consider this: Have there been any advertisements for it on TV during marathons of BttF? No. Some people out there who are BttF fans may not even know the game exists. So no, the game hasn't brought BttF back into the public eye. No more so than running marathons on TNT or whatever.

  • Time really doesn't have much to do with it, look at it's replacement for example. BTTF is still very valid these days. Look at me for example, I was born the year it was made and it's my favourite film of all time. It simply broke barriers and I don't know of a person who dislikes it. It, for example would bring far more customers to universal than Jaws, or the ever aging Twister for example. With regards to the 2015 nonsense, it wouldn't be hard to rework the story that doc brown made a mistake and that it was further into the future than he had thought and that could play a part of the story having to go back in time etc. Theres endless possibilities.

You only have to check the view counts and millions of positive comments on YouTube videos from fans all over the world to see that it would still be one of the most popular attractions by far in their park. It only needed a bit of improving in the first place, this truly epic ride didn't need demolishing. I'm very confident that now it's gone, the officials at Universal regret it deep down and wish they could have run it along side Simpsons at least.

  • The BTTF ride was amazing. I had pretty low expectations for such an old ride but it blew me away. That was part of the magic (and I would say it is magic the film shares in that the film is quite unassuming in its genius).

It should continue. And it does not need to be updated. It was the best ride when I went there a few years ago and I can't imagine that it was surpassed since.

I saw the ride on my BLuray collection. I've ridden those "screen shows movement and thing you are in bucks around". It's about as exciting as jumping on your bed.

I'd rather they put a budget into a new GREAT BTTF movie.

According to this logic, Universal should really consider Annoying Orange: The Ride.

That says/confirms it all. If you never rode the ride, you simply cannot comment.

Being on that ride was absolutely amazing, and along with all the rides queues film memorabilia, it was absolutely epic. ANY simulator looks rubbish on a video, BTTF was no different. Simpsons is amazing, but the theming of BTTF is what really set them apart. I tend to disagree with the film because all they will end up doing is making 'son of' back to the future like they normally do and ruin it.
