To those saying choices don't matter

Have any of you guys noticed that in most of your major choice moments Clem is there watching? She seems to always be there witnessing your actions, or at least hearing of them and talk to you about them. Think about Larry, in the meat locker you had to pick helping Kenny kill him when he was in a 'could be alive or dead' state or help Lilly revive him, people say this choice was meaningless because Lilly always leaves in Ep3 no matter what you say or do. But remember guys, Clem was there. Shes seeing what you do first hand, and I'm really hoping she picks up a thing or two from looking. Say if in episode 4 or 5 someone like Kenny falls over something and could be alive but is in a state of unconsciousness. If you battered in Larrys brains, Clem finally learns how to pull a gun and blows his brains out (I know how un-Clem this seems but it would be pretty amazing twist) But if you tried to revive him, Clem would try that then Lee could swoop in and help. Maybe if someone does another Lilly and kills another member of the group, depending on what you did with Lilly, Clem might say "Lee, leave that guy!" Or if you took her she might be undecided. Now of course if nothing like this happens and choices do become meaningless than Telltale you've been a very naughty boy! But I think maybe Telltale had built all of these choices to affect Clementine, and you. Especially you.

  • They said @ Pax that in the next episode, something big that has to do with MOST of your choices is going to happen. I for one am anxious to seeing what it is. It has to involve Kenny or Clementine and I'm excited to see what it is.

Plus, I'm completely happy with the choices we've had thusfar. I don't need Heavy Rain here. I'd expect to pay 2 1/2 times more for that but for what I've paid? This is easily the best bang for my buck that I've had and one of the best XBL Arcade games there is. (Yes I'm a console-gamer. Not apologizing for it!)

Not that I care, I only bought the game to have a new Walking Dead experience, and I got that.

Exactly, if everyone came in here with that frame of mind, we'd all be hugging and FBing each other. Im glad I didnt read the features page from the website, apparently they had people thinking they can do everything in this game but cure cancer

yea its the best XBL arcade game i have ever bought :)

(This thread gonna get merged, I think)

    Ugh. 3 issues there actually.
    1. I do not really care what Clam thinks, she was not the most important character in the game for me. The story was never giving me a clue it's about murderer taking care of a random girl, sounds to cheesy for me, I wouldn't fall for such a story. For me, the game opened up an interesting side of myself: how do I chose who lives and who dies. Now, my choice doesn't matter in the end. I mean, what?
    2. Episodes 2-3 dealt with all characters I had some feelings (either love or hatered) toward except for Clam. I mean, Ben, Kenny, this Hobo, new couple - I don't care what will happen to them, they can shoot each other, burn alive or just turn around and walk toward the hoard - really, who cares? Unless the game's gonna offer some new very likeable characters right in the beginning of the episode 4, my goal will be to survive myself and may be - may be! - help surviving Clam if I get a chance for that.
    3. Episode 3 is, erm, well, a separate game from my point of view, so I expect to have what I've been promised when I bought this game here, in episode 3, not in some near/distant future. I have been constantly told that it's only $5, and you know what, the other episodic comic-based game I bought this month was $5, and it offered me whatever it was promising, without all these 'just wait for the next episode'.

So, what's the point in me doing choices if the game just discards them right away? Don't get me wrong, I like the game and will buy the next episode, but the game does not stand for what it was promising.

  • Exactly, people seemed to expected way more than the game has to offer because most of them interpret the "Game adapts to the choices you make" in an exaggerated manner. But I'm fairly sure (a man's gotta hope) that next 2 episodes we're gonna be seeing the choices we made before matter, since we're reaching the end of the game.

  • @RedKoolLoops said: I'm relatively new to the forums so I apologise if I'm wrong here, but it seems like hell has been kicked up about choices all because of Episode 3.

I wonder if Carley/Doug hadn't have died, if there would still be so many complaints over choices mattering? I will admit I feel our choices don't have as big of an impact as I had imagined but part of me also thinks this whole fuss is just being kicked up because some folk are still quite bitter about not being able to save a favoured character, which is completely understandable.

Like I said though I am fairly new so this is just my take on it at the moment. I don't know how the fan reaction was after the release of Episode 2, it just seems right now there's an abundance of "Choices Do/Don't Matter" threads and I think the deaths in Episode 3 might have something to do with them.

    he

The reason is it's only in episode 3 we find this out like if you save Carley in episode 1 she still dies anyway if you get what I mean.

  • Well, in one of my games I avoided telling Clem about my past in one of the opening scenes of episode 3. She later called me on it while I was cutting her hair, and Lee apologizes. He also points out that knowing when somebody is lying to her is an important survival skill.

Something I am glad he said something about now that Savannah is getting bigger in the window of the train.

Good imagination, but no, TTG don't have such scene. I've learned everything about this game and TTG in ep 3.
Besides, who cares what Clem thinks and how she feels, nothing would change. There might be a little different with her in the very end of ep 5. So what? The game is done by then anyway.

  • I'd like to think my choosing to kill both St Johns in front of Clem, will come back to haunt me at some point. It seemed like quite a major choice at the end of episode 2, but as of now it doesn't seem to have mattered much. I'm willing to give Telltale the next couple of episodes to see if it actually makes any difference

  • Also i've been watching a playthrough where the person has made a friend of Kenny, as opposed to mine where I sided with Lily. I always had him pegged as a coward, ever since he left Shawn to die at the farm, plus the multiple times he's left me to die. But i've seen that if you make a friend of him, then he isn't a coward at all and he saves you a few times. So i guess he's just an ass who only saves his friends, rather than a coward haha. But yeah, it was interesting to see. Changed my perspective on Kenny a bit.
