What are your thoughts on the new characters; Christa and Omid as of Episode 4?

I want Christa to be attacked by 3 walkers. Pushed up against a wall and falls down on her bum. Her stomach is torn open and the Fetus ripped from within as she and Omid look on in horror as the young forming child is gobbled. Christa then gets her throat removed from a second Zombie, while the third is nomming on her left hand.

Omid sees this from across the room, loses his mind, puts the gun in his mouth and pulls the trigger.

Wow, A bit dark don't you think

I thought it was kind of odd how these two seemed to willing to help, actually. Christa told me that she and Omid survived by staying alone. They came with us, originally, because trains are fast. Then they needed to stay with me for Omid's leg, which I was a bit responsible for. They seem to want to come on the boat as well but this helpfulness seems odd.

Why does this pair, that told me they like to stay alone, seem to want to stick by me to the point of risking their lives to help out? They don't even trust us enough to tell us that Christa is pregnant yet they are going to put their lives on the line? What makes my group so much more worthwhile then their previous experiences? Makes no sense to me.

well...i think its not even that much about you but about clem for them, just see how christa got all motherly over her (cause she is pregnant herself and needs clem as the proof having/raising a kid is possible in the ZA)

Oh! The pregnancy interests me now. Maybe Omid doesn't even know? Maybe he is impotent; which leaves the pregnancy as a signifier that Christa has been assaulted or has cheated on Omid.

Though, judging by their behaviour I think Omid does know about the pregnancy. It is fun to theorise though. :P

Huh, an interesting idea but I tend to discount it because we know those two were arguing about something when Lee was climbing up. If your theory is correct that would mean there are two secrets being kept. The first in regards to whatever they were arguing about and then the second, which only Crista is aware of.

Doesn't make much narrative sense, especially given that there is only one chapter left in the story, but an interesting thought.

Aw, you don't have to see the killing of those characters as a way to make room for more characters. The killing also strongly represents the harsh environment. The dramatic outcome makes you realise that the people you become attached to can be killed at any time for any reason.

For example, I actually felt fear when I thought Ben was about to die in Crawford. He was the last member of the (somewhat) original group who liked my Lee. I panicked because I had seen other characters I cared for, die. But this feeling of fear would most likely not occur with people if people knew that old characters were granted immunity. (I hope that makes sense!)

If they were going along with the idea that they want players to know anyone can die, then the death toll would have been much higher in this episode. Given how many people were killed, I was expecting everyone except Lee and Clem to be dead at this point but instead everyone except Chuck made it through.

I don't think there was any real need to jack up the tension in episode 3 unless the goal was to escalate the situation further for the remaining 2 installments. We didn't need to be shocked like that. Now we have some new people that don't really emotionally engage us like Carley and Kat did.

The truth is, Lee getting infected is the true signal that anything can happen because now, the main character is going to die. If Lee can die, ANYONE can die. If they had kept the group mainly alive until this point, true fear would have started. Now you'd know that Carley, Kat and the rest all can die. That episode 5 will truly be the grand final of the series. I think they missed the boat by doing those shocking deaths too soon. They should have been saved for the climax.

Well, like I said, you don't need Christa to get motherly when we already had Kat who was, in fact, a mother. Plus if the pregnant angle is important, just have Kat get pregnant. Christa is just a poor replacement.

  • still not sure on them
you only get to know them for 2 days, you got to know everyone else (cept Ben) for over 3 months at the motor inn

  • I love them both. At first Omid creeped me out when he got a bit overly excited that the group had a kid, and Christa seemed a bit confrontational but I grew attached to them. I especially like Christa now that she's taken on a sort of big sister/mom role with Clementine. And of course their loyalty to Lee at the end of Episode 4 completely solidified their position in my "Favorite Character's" list. It says something about them when I've done less for them then I have for Kenny but they're willing to join me without question while Kenny calls me "selfish".

    Fuck Kenny.

  • I broke the guys leg and he comes with me to save Clementine. That man is a saint.

  • I'm not going to lie. They're actually good characters. I thought they were just random people who we didn't need in episode 3, but it looks like they've got some potential.

    Seconded :D

He doesn't even blame you for it.

Imagine if it was Kenny who's leg you broke...

  • Gotta say I like Christa and Omid a whole lot more now. They're genuinely good people, and I'm glad to have them coming with me.
