Box set of the walking dead game- perks?

So in December Telltale is releasing the walking dead game, there is going to be a box set that is going to be released as well as a normal version.

The standard edition will be $29.99 and the collectors $69.99 USD. The only thing different between the standard and collector's edition is that the collectors comes with a massive comic book that has issues 1 - 48 of the walking dead comic. Over 1000 pages of Robert-Kirkman-Walking-Dead-Goodness.

But I have to ask myself, why would I buy this just to get the game i've already played and the comics I've already read? Beyond the fact of collecting, I think Telltale needs to add more to this bundle to make players who are like me, want to buy it more.

  • For the first limited edition season set of the tv show, they released the first episode in black and white to "make it look more in tone with the comic" or something. It'd be awesome to see the first episode of the game in black/white!

They already siad they cant do it. Tried.. and didnt work well. Said the depth just was off and didnt look or translate right. Woulda been great though.

You have too much disposable income.

  • I'll probably get the collector's edition, mostly because I've been wanting to pick up the compendiums and some book stores I've found them in have been selling them for 50-60 bucks all by themselves.

This really doesn't seem like a typical Telltale collector's edition, though. I wonder if this is more Gamestop's thing and TT will have a different CE on their site like they have with...well, every other PC game they've done.

  • I hope they offer a little more. I for one already own the compendium so this edition doesn't interest me. If they did making of and behind the scenes videos and interviews...that would be awesome, and I would definitely want it.

That being said, I am in Australia so I can't buy the retail version anyway...

  • The only reason I'd buy this is because I've never read the comics. I already pre-ordered the game on Ps3.
I'm surprised they don't sell figures, posters or t-shirts online of the game! It's not exactly like I can put everything on hold to take an expensive flight to America just to arrive at a short-notice PAX thing with free TWD stuff if I happen to be there early...

Really. They should just sell Lee's axe or Carley's glock toys, Tees, posters--goddamn stuff! They're missing the mark, here...

  • I have the PS3 Download version so I might get the Xbox Collector's Edition but since I never read the comic it might be a good thing. Never really interested in comics but I might give it a shot. Just like my friend getting me into watching the walking dead just after season 1.

  • my main gripe is that the compendium is on sale for 34.99 originally and the game is for 69.99 even though the retail game is 29.99. so you are spending 5 bucks more just to get a new cover of the compendium. Now if they would have put the 2nd compendium that woulda been cool as I have the TPB but not the 2nd compendium. oh well retail it is:p

  • None of the above for me, there's no announcement of a physical PC version through Telltale or otherwise. I may just go through steam from now on as there's no benefit of getting through them anymore.

  • Has Telltale released any information yet about their Collector's edition that usually comes only to their shop like with every other Telltale game series in the past?

This set seems to be the one for the brick & mortar shops.
