In Ep 4; Vernon talks to you about taking Clementine and keeping her safe, did you agree with Vernon or did you disagree

  • I said yes because I thought the boat idea was dangerous, like Vernon says she is safer with him.

  • @LGThomas said: I would be interested to hear from someone who played the game honestly, and chose to let Vernon take Clem away: why?

Great interest you have there! I told Vernon that he was right. It is in her best interest that he takes her to his group. Though, that decision wasn't made lightly I assure you. I had to actually pause the game to think about it for a bit.

Vernon's group has supplies, shelter and doctors. Even an evacuation plan since they were gone when we got back to the bunker looking for Clem. While not a lot is known about them they appear to take care of each other and respect each other. They are older but have also had children of their own. I fully believe that Clem would be far better off with them than with my group.

But, wmstorm!! Why? Because my group and I are fucked up!

We argue, undermine or in some cases threaten and kill each other. We have even leave others behind to die so we can carry on another day. I've let multiple people eat human flesh because one guy was being a dick. I've tried to save a life only to helplessly watch another kill that person. I put so much stress on a leader that she killed a member of our group either intentionally or accidentally. I've slaughtered a woman who was raped and had her child kidnapped because she wouldn't put the crossbow down and even played favorites when we were low on food.

I've watched people die.. I've let people die and chosen to take lives when it was 'the best decision for the group'. This isn't even close to all the things I have done in this game based on my natural instincts.

So, Clem going with Vern is absolutely in her best interest. The direction that the group and I are heading into is a side of humanity that I personally don't agree with as being the best living situations to raise a child. Of course, we won't know what the best situation is going to be during a ZA.

so in other words: "yes Vernon take her".

Clem trusts Lee (depends, my Clem does), Clem is like Lee's adopted daughter
In other words: "go fuck yourself Vernon".
I'm not arguing but you've got a point, but from my point of view it's a bad Idea.
I'm not sure they even have zombie killing skillz.
but you do have a point though

Why does lee go searching for clemintine if you clearly told vernon to take her

  • @TheNNerdGamer said: so in other words: "yes Vernon take her".

You have a point by saying that. My post could of stopped right there. But the OP of the question asked the reason why we would let him take her which led to the long post. The OP asked why and I gave the reason for it is all. Doesn't make my decision right for everyone but in my eyes that is the decision I would make.

@TheNNerdGamer said: Why does lee go searching for clemintine if you clearly told vernon to take her

This is because that is the way the game is designed. It has nothing to do with the choice when Vernon and Lee have that conversation. Lee is supposed to go looking for her. Especially when we never saw Vernon take her to his people. Lee woke up and she was gone. If Lee had said "yes, Vern, take her with you." and he took her at the end of EP4, then we wouldn't go search for her as we would know where she was. But, since she went suddenly missing we don't know where she went so we have to go look for her.

  • I chose the 'I need time to think about it option'. Then Molly showed up and said "That girl thinks the world of you, dont ever leave her side", and thats now my answer.

Vernon and co. Took the train

Vernon and co. Took the train

I agree with everything you said, it was exactly ho0w I played it and what I thought after Molly said that.

I am not convinced they took the train yet, he did want to take Clem to protect her, I don't think he'd take off before he got Lee's decision. I do think whoever has Clem has them too or did something to them.

  • I found it very insulting that Vernon, after saying that he doesn't feel enough anymore, that Brie's death should mean more and doesn't, should presume he is the better choice for Clem's guardian.

That's an interesting explanation; I agree that the dynamics of Lee's group have been messed up from the beginning, compared to Vernon's group which seemed grounded (stable).

It also sounds like you made the cruelest decisions in order to keep the group safe, removing all sentimentality, while I often put the group at risk by making stupid heartfelt choices. These wreckless choices were made often only because I didn't want to hurt anybody's feelings, especially Clem's. In fact, mostly the decisions I made were based entirely on what Clementine would think of me; this endeared me to her. Somebody mentioned: that Clementine would not have wanted to stay with Vernon, but based on your decisions did Clem feel the same way about you, and did you feel the same way about her?

I have to admit my decisions throughout the game were not only stupid, but often manipulative and selfish in order to win Clementine's affection. And although I didn't immediately tell Vernon where to go, if pressed for an answer; I would have kept hold of Clementine, because, well, I wanted to...

  • I said no in the most polite way by saying I need time for this decision

I wasn't going to entrust Clem to some people who were kicked out of a group because they may be a Burden
