Maybe the station wagon can fly?

I have no idea how far Macon to Savannah is, but I find it weird that Campman virtually arrived at the same time as Lee's group in Savannah. Remember Campman was able to radio Clem's walkietalkie as Lee's group nears the city, right?

Also, the group is riding a train, and I assume just stopped for a couple of minutes, when a tanker blocked its way as opposed to Campman travelling through the State roads with a station wagon, I mean I imagine the roads are now littered with abandoned vehicles and groups of walkers. To sum it up, I have to ask, what wizardry is this?

  • One does not simply drive to savannah.

  • Well, the group made it their intention to head to Savannah before they actually departed.
So he coulda got the the jump that way.

Also I dont think a railroad is a straight shot to any particular location. There's stops it must make. On account of it being designed that way.

So it's entirely plausible he got there before them.

  • you're not thinking quadrimensionally

Road might be clogged, but likely mostly in one direction.

Kenny wanted to go to Savannah, but Lilly did not and the group as a whole was more or less uncertain. They only really decided to go while fleeing the bandit/zombie attack. It seems hard to believe he would start heading down to Savannah unless he was 100% they would be heading that way.

You are right about the railroad though, according to Google maps it has a lot more detours than the I-16. I guess the question is how much obstruction/barriers would a major interstate have at this point in the apocalypse?

  • He took his car. It was suggest that the train didn't go very fast, so where's the prob?

  • Like schmett said it might likely be congested one way due to evacuation and the like.

And yeah a train isn't all that fast most of the time.

  • It was some time before tehy got to savannah. Thats plenty enough time to find gas. I even suggested he syphoned gas from the car that crashed into the train. He probably knew they were going to savannah after Carley gave Clementine the batteries from the wagon. She put them in afterwards. She probably started talking to him shortly. Possibly telling him everything. Even about stealing the things from the van and about her parents.

You guys make it seem like getting gas was impossible or something.

The OP's point was the condition of the roads, no one is raising an issue over the availability of fuel.
