Lilly - Why do people still care?

posted by Pickles312 on - last edited - Viewed by 752 users

Lilly was left on the side of the road or ran away in the RV. Either way she shot Carley or Doug out of cold blood.

So:

1) Why do people still like her?

2) Why do people think she will come bak even though that isn't cannon to the comics?

  • Freeze is right. I think they started out with the Lillie's being the same, but that's not the case anymore. If you read the Walking Dead novel Road to Woodury, you see that that Lilly is completely different. And the Lilly from teh novel is the one from the comics, I believe.

I wouldn't say she kills Doug out of cold blood, she goes to kill Ben but Doug takes the bullet for him so it was more of an accident.

I liked her because she was a strong woman, I agreed with both Kenny and Lilly but Kenny went to far with murdering her father.

She did come back, there is a book based on her but in the book she's a feeble woman with a diffrent father who died in a diffrent way so...yeah, not worth the read, really.

  • Ugh, yeah, no Lilly is a bitch. Sorry, but it's true. When you first meet her, she's a bitch to you and Kenny and his family. I know she thinks we're dangerous or whatever, but does it look like we have weapons? We're just people trying to survive and she wants to kick us out and leave us for the walkers.

Then when Larry needs his pills, she tries to act all nice and asks you to get the pills but she never apologizes. Then, in Episode 2, even if you don't side against Kenny and just try to remain neutral she's a bitch to you about handing out the rations. And if you don't give her or Larry any, she's a bitch to you. She's also a bitch to Lee, Mark, and Kenny when they bring Ben and Travis or Mr. Parker. Where, again, she doesn't care that these people are trying to survive.

In the meat locker, if you kill Larry just for the sole purpose of trying to protect Clementine, she won't save you with Andy St. John. But if you don't help Kenny kill Larry, that's really the only time she has your back.

In Episode 3, she's probably the biggest bitch. I know she's grieving and has gone a bit over the edge, but still. She's a bitch to you when you bring back the supplies from the pharmacy and she's, for some reason, dead set on not leaving the motor inn, even though the bandits threaten their safety. She's kinda bitchy about that, and then she's also just being a bitch when she asks Lee to start a witch hunt over the missing supplies.

But then the moment where Lily really crosses the line, is when she shoots Doug/Carley. She definitely shot Carley in cold blood. Didn't even hesitate. Same thing with Doug. While she didn't mean to shoot him, she was trying to shoot Ben, which is just as awful.

And finally, if you let her on the RV, and you've sided with her all the time, since day one, she tells you she's taking the RV and leaving, and she asks you if you want to come with her. If you say yes, and go to get Clementine, she takes off without you. And if you say no, she pushes you off the RV and then leaves.

Anyway, all I'm trying to say is Lilly is a bitch. I don't know why people think she's likable and I've kinda forgotten the point of this reply, but yeah. I agree with you. I don't know why people still care about Lilly.

  • Because she brought tension to the group. The best moments I had besides Clem was arguing with her. She and Kenny's power struggle was a fucking fantastic element that got cut short because the writers wanted to push that lame "Campman" storyline.

Lilly could've been a major character to the end, yes, she's from the comics, but the TV show obviously doesn't give two fucks considering she hasn't showed up yet, so why should the game?

  • @Freeze said: What really intrigued me about the character is that she's not the same Lilly from the comics. There are two Lillys. There's Telltales Lilly where she's this ex pilot / hardened lady who's father is Larry but then there's Kirkman's Lilly who has a completely different father and traits etc. So I do think she may make a reappearance in Season 2.

Both with the same last name?

  • I hated Lily from the start, mainly because I read the comics and KNOW.

The Tv show isn't cannon to the comics, the game is.

No, the game isn't. In the game, Lilly's dad is named Larry. In the comics, he's named Everett. In the game, Kenny kills him. In the comics, he sacrifices himself to save Lilly.

That doesn't happen in any comic, it happens in a novel based on the comics.

Isn't the novel canon to the comics? It's supposed to explain Lilly's back story which isn't explained in the comics or the games.

So either the game, written by TellTale is canon or the novels, written by the series creator is canon.

Ugh, I hate it when series become cash cow franchises. It wrecks continuity.
