The Best Plan?

Towards the end of the game, we have the choice to decide which plan for the group would be best for their survival. Getting another boat, finding a small town or heading out into the countryside. Which one did you all go for? I personally think the boat was a bad idea. That little speed boat Vernon stole from us wouldn't have been practical for long term survival. Where the heck were they even going to go anyway? A small island with no people? They didn't have any survival gear or supplies with them.

A small town might be ok, but eventually they would drain it of supplies and they would have to contend with local swarms of walkers and possible bandits.

The countryside would probably be safest in theory, due to the lack of walkers, but they would also be exposed to the elements and would be severely at risk if a passing swarm happened across their location.

  • They should head for the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina. It has a low population density, plenty of resources for hunting, fishing and gathering. There is plenty of tree cover so my plan would be to build a big tree house community. The area will experience plenty of cold and snow so in the winter the Walkers would be severely hampered by the weather, in the summer its fairly nice so the weather will be nice. Also zombies have enough trouble walking, I would imagine a steep incline would really slow them down.

  • Small town... the walkers would protect her from the living.

They have several months worth of supplies(the empty shelves at the end of episode 4) so they'll probably last a decent while.

I agreed with the countryside(clicked boat in panic). Being able to see walkers coming from miles away would help a lot, but i never thought about the weather. I originally had a mindset of "always keep moving". It doesn't matter where, just keep moving. I wanted to leave Macon because there was nothing left, not particularly because i wanted to go to the coast, but because i wanted to just go.

Now, however... after all that's happened, if it were me I'd just be dumbfounded as to what to do. I would just...walk. Keep walking in a direction and respond to situations as they happen. Maybe stop by towns and such to raid them for supplies but otherwise, just walk. I wouldn't know what else to do.

  • Were those the options when talking to christa and omid? (didn't see them properly) Wasn't really expecting it, and clicked find a boat. xd

  • I chose go to the countryside, as to hopefully have Clem find Omid and Christa, but in general I'd say that I'd just want to head north for as long as possible.

More north = less population density (once you get out of the east coast/great lake regions) and most likely you'd run into unaffected areas once you're well in to the sunny beaches of Canada. I've lived in Ontario all my life and I know that at least some of these places up in northern Ontario probably would be unaffected, with how out of the way some of them are.

  • The countryside sounds nice... but we'll have to wait until S2 to see how horribly wrong that goes.

  • The countryside. I hoped that Clem would be safe with Christa and Omid.

  • I said small town because Kenny's boat idea was a bust, and I didn't like the countryside idea, and small town seemed like the compromise. Plus, we know of at least one small town in Georgia that's been secured and fortified. The man running it may be slightly psychotic, but Clem would be safer there than the countryside or looking for another boat.

  • I said something else...I think, if at all possible, I would try to get a group and find a boat or something but one that would be able to get us across the ocean to another country to see if things were maybe better there or at least try to navigate to somewhere further away.

  • I told her to go to the countryside, since earlier before the end Christa started talking about going to the countryside.. Which I think is the best since it's mostly open space and there's not a lot of walkers roaming around.
