My (Unpopular) Season 2 Hope

posted by FraQ on - last edited - Viewed by 185 users

I posted a long, well thought out post and then hit submit. Nothing happened and my entire post was deleted.

Now you get this:

I want a new cast for Season 2. New protagonist, new group, new locations.

Keep the series fresh.

I love the old characters (one especially) and I do eventually hope to see them crop up again. (Maybe as a cameo, or a someone who joins the new group at some point)

The ideal thing (IMO) would be to run 3-4 seasons with new protagonists and new groups of characters each season. Then in the final season have all the survivors from each group meet up and we conclude their stories at once in a truly epic finale season.

Or maybe not. Honestly I'm very happy with the ending we received. It was heartbreaking and at the same time left you with a little hope. It also allows you to think whatever you want to think about what happens next. Which are the best kind of endings (again IMO).

So Thanks again Telltale for an awesome adventure and I cannot wait for Season 2!

  • I really see it playing out with multiple characters.

Episode 1 would be you controlling Kenny as he escorts Clem out of Savannah. 2 would put you in Clem's shoes as you wander those fields, trying to track down Omid and Christa. And so on and so on.

It'd be pretty neat if they could pull a multi character thing off--your choices would effect their personality and everything.

It's a long shot, but man... that'd be so cool.

  • As much as new characters sounds amazing. Just think about how the game ended. When you made them final decisions it said "They'll remember that." or "Clementine will remember that." So we're going to start off the new season as Clementine walking to the 2 people at the end of S1 EP 5. I know that the 2 is Omid and Christa just for the fact that the shorter one on the left was limping (Omid's leg is hurt bad and infected so he's been limping) and the other one was walking fine and taller. So it will be Clem meets up with Omid and Christa then possibly find a new group and you play as Clem. Or we can go down the road a few years later when Clem is 15-16 years old and her Omid and Christa are working together with a new group.

  • Dear god, the only thing I absolutely don't want is playing as a character we've already met.

Why would you want to hit the reset button? And how would you reconcile the ending for season 1?

  • This isn't an unpopular opinion...many people actually want a new group. I want to control either Christa or Omid and have Clem be in the group. She influenced some of my decisions.

Without Clem in the group, I'm afraid I'm going to become a douche in season 2.

  • @HiggsBoson2142 said: I like the idea of all the remaining survivors coming together in a final season. Here's my idea: There will be four groups. We've seen the story of one, and there were three survivors (Four if you include Molly). There can be other seasons too, but I think in at least one of them there should be a binding. It's kind of hard to explain.

Season 1: Lee and Clem's story.
    Season 2: New characters story
Season 3: New character's story; survivors from Season 2/1 join.
    Season 4: New character's story
Season 5: All characters come together in a finale season with more than just 5 episodes

Seems pretty unreal, though. "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one."

5 survivors - Clem, Omid, Christa, Molly and Lilly :p
I want an entirely new group... I don't want to be reminded of season one, because you know in season one we are DEAD.
If any of us meets Clem, Omid, Christa, Molly or Lilly, we would probably treat them the way Lee did... and that's not realistic at all. I doubt any of you Lilly haters would forgive her and act as if you don't know what she's done. Would kinda be the same way if we meet Vernon's group.
So I highly doubt we will meet any one from season one. TWD is not famous for giving fans what they want and I think they would rather leave Clem's fate ambiguous.

  • I'd like new characters, a new blank template to replace Lee (a bit like how I saw someone on the forums say on how Lee is a blank template with a small backstory so we can craft him into the person we see fit, we need someone with no real backstory, someone we don't know). HOWEVER, I want to have Clem involved at some point and make sure she's safe, the ending after the credits wasn't enough for me. It can be done in many ways:

    1. Maybe we come across her in the game with Omid and Christa (and Christas babby) and stop off there for a cup of tea and a chat before we continue our journey.

    2. The people on the hill weren't Omid and Christa but our new character and a friend, we meet Clem and go from there.

    3. blabla can't think of anything else atm but there are a lot of options

  • What I think would be interesting would be if you played a new character, with a solid group but then Omid, Christa and Clem wander in, tailed by thousands of Savannah zombies following them.

This situation, to the character, would make them very angry that some survivors just totally screwed you over, making you leave your nice setup. So this main character you play as now has to try to spur on the 15 or so people that have all set up a nice little community of safety to run like hell because these new survivors arrive, but many don't want to leave, and want to try to stay and defend.

When the horde reaches their doorstep, the main character, Christa, Omid, and Clem are the only ones to leave. As they run away, they hear gunshots for a while, then screams, then silence, and this character is now left with the people that caused the death of all of his group.

In this situation, it would be interesting because the players would like the 'newcomers' coming to the camp, but would have to realize that these people that they know and love this new guy (or girl) doesn't, and that Omid, Christa and Clem totally shat on this guy's life accidentally.

See... Everyone is saying that this isn't an unpopular request but then I don't think everybody is fully grasping what I'm asking for.

Obviously the game will have new characters. Even if we just start up immediately where they left off and we are playing as Clem; (I REALLY hope this isn't the case) It's a no-brainer that that there will be new characters. You can't have 5 episodes of just Omid, Christa, Clem, and possibly Molly.

I'm asking for a completely different story. All new characters, new protagonist, new setting. Maybe they stumble across the survivors of Season 1 at some point but even better if they don't.

I honestly feel satisfied with how they ended season 1. In my mind it was a complete story. It was heartbreaking and beautiful and it held true to the themes that The Walking Dead franchise is built upon. I like not knowing what happened to Clem next and I'm not saying I don't want to see her (or Omid, Christa, Molly) again. I do! I loved all those characters!

Give it a rest though. You can't miss something that is always there. Wait till later in the season, then it makes the reunion all the sweeter.

Also, if they don't come back. I'm fine with that also. I'm confident that Telltale can give me different characters and that I will love and/or hate just as much as the old. Which I find way more intriguing then the above quoted scenario.

In that scenario we are just a re-skinned Lee. Stuck with Omid and Christa, taking care of Clementine... It's a story we have already heard. Even if it is an awesome story.
