Carley & Doug: Easy & Hard Mode

I realized that the game is "better" in a sense when Carley is around, and that Episode 2 and 3 are easier because of her. My reasons?

Carley: Easy mode
-In Episode 2, you get attacked by an undead Travis/David. With Carley around, she will shoot the walker in the head
-In Episode 3, you get the chance to interact with Carley to the point where she can give you a kiss on the cheek, lifting your hopes and spirits.
-In the bandit raid in Episode 3, when the walkers begin to attack, Carley will assist you in taking them out.
-In Episode 3, she also gives you the chance to tell the others about your past, which makes them respect you more.

Doug: Hard mode
-In Episode 2, you get attacked by an undead Travis/David. With Doug around, he will attempt to hit the walker in the head with a plank of wood. It doesn't have much affect and you have to deal with it yourself until Larry/Mark takes it out.
-In Episode 3, you get the chance to interact with Doug. He will tell you that he feels completely useless, which in my case, made me kind of sad.
-In Episode 3, when the bandits raid, Doug will warn you about the incoming walkers, and not wanting to waste any bullets, stays in the RV. That leaves Lee to take them out.
-You saved Doug. He doesn't know about your past. Therefore everybody is taken by surprise when Lilly rats you out.

I feel like Telltale unintentionally made the game harder for those who picked Doug. Funny thing is, most people picked Carley.

  • There were a few reasons I picked Carley over Doug. And no, one isn't "IT HAS TITS!".

    1. Crack shot, showing a few headshots in the short time we know her.
    2. Courageous, shown by how she comes to other's aid.
    3. Does what is right, not a "it was orders" kind of person, shown by how she ignored Lilly's order to not help our initial group. She was one that I felt could keep us honest.
    4. In the moment, she had a gun; Doug was grabbed by three zombies, I was hoping she'd shoot the ones on her then quickly fire off a few to save Doug (was wrong on that account though).

I liked Doug, but while being a nerd and IT tech is useful at first; down the line we'd need more security and hunters than someone who can program a remote. The power won't last forever, which is exactly what happens at the end of the episode. Not bashing his redneck security system though, that was pretty sweet.

In short, I picked the choice I hoped would be able to get everyone out of the pharmacy alive. It had nothing to do with Guy V Girl.

The same for me! I guess, I am just someone who is hoping he does the best for the people in the group.

-Carley only shoots the walker at the very end, the only difference is instead of having to smash the zombies head against the truck 1 more time (which Doug does for you with the board) is that you dont have to move your mouse to the right for Larry/Mark to kill him, so it ends up being the same

-During the gunfight, Carley initially kills 2 bandits, whereas Doug kills 1.
Although Carley does help kill walkers afterwards, Doug "fixes" the solenoid (by smashing it with a hammer) and you get to leave slightly earlier, so you dont have to kill as many walkers

-Although I agree, getting to talk about Doug's sense of inadequacy isnt as appealing as telling the group about your past, I found Doug's interactions much better in Ep.2, so the dialogue is really a matter of personal opinion

really, the only thing is the gunfight is slightly easier with Carley

  • IMO Carley didn't add much to the game. Carley was a strong female character, something we easily got out of Lilly. Doug was unique.

Still, Carley and Lilly were opposites.

  • @Luigi01080 said: and that was why she deserved to get shot. I saved doug and he is right that it was a bit more challenging but telltale made the choice completely stupid as they gave people who saved carely a chance to tell everyone about lee's past and gain everyones respect. I feel like they really didnt let doug assist the other players like those who immediatley went for the pretty girl with the gun(campman was right).

Carley deserved to get shot? dude!!! lily was there accusing ppl and Carley didnt like that. and dont say Carley shouldnt talk to lily like that just cuz lily lost her father, we havent even seen Carley's family u dont see her freaking out so much. lily is a very weak survivor and would not last much longer even if she didnt kill Carley or Doug. Carley was trying to be reasonable from the start but lily kept bitching so Carley got angry. thats what happens. if u think Carley deserved to get shot just because of what she did to lily, ur a complete dumb ass and should grow up alittle.

  • episode 1 to episode 2 was retarded Carleys breasts in episode 2 were less than half the size they were in episode 1.

    *facepalm*

Lilly accused the right person though.

and dont say Carley shouldnt talk to lily like that just cuz lily lost her father,

She shouldn't though. Lilly was armed and ready to kill and Carley decided to tell her off then instead of... when she wasn't armed and ready to kill. That is the sole reason Carley died.

we havent even seen Carley's family u dont see her freaking out so much.

Maybe because Carley's family didn't get killed by a member of the exact group you are in, and in such a gruesome way. Anyone would snap from that.

lily is a very weak survivor and would not last much longer even if she didnt kill Carley or Doug.

She seemed to be doing a pretty good job to me.

Carley was trying to be reasonable from the start but lily kept bitching so Carley got angry.

"Someone just let bandits into our base and now we are stranded in an RV" isn't exactly bitching, it's called "figuring out who needs justice" and she did figure out who it was. Carley decided to but in and make Lilly think it was her.

if u think Carley deserved to get shot just because of what she did to lily, ur a complete dumb ass and should grow up alittle.
Says the person that got so mad because someone said a fictional character deserved to die. Why do people defend Carley when she died due to pissing off the person with the gun, and then had many brilliant moments such as forgetting batteries exist, and wasting ammo constantly, and telling a convicted killer she knows nothing about that she knows who he is, and dear god the list goes on :p
