Molly was the one character where Telltale stumbled

Overall I loved TWD and most of the characters in it. In fact I'd go so far as to say that The Walking Dead is one of the most memorable games I've ever played.

But I think Telltale stumbled a bit with Molly. The great thing about all the other characters in TWD is that they are entirely believable. They seem like real people just caught up in extraordinary circumstances. The one exception to that is Molly.

The ninja acrobatics and the ability to apparently vanish killed immersion a bit. They should have toned that down a bit and made her bad@ssery a bit more grounded in reality. No acrobatics that a real person couldn't pull off, no Houdini disappearing acts, and no using a claw hammer like a superhero grappling hook.

+ He was shot in the chest.

  • Well, okay, here's my stand on this. If you're going to survive in a Zombie Apocolypse, you can't be the fat guy who sits in his basement and plays WoW all day. (Probably not, anyway. Maybe you'll fight them off with that golden Lord of The Rings dagger. Who knows.)

But really, the fact that she WAS able to do those things, explains COMPLETELY why she was there, and why she was surviving easily. If you're a cripple, I don't expect you to be alive in this world. I think Molly is actually far more believable, due to the fact that she proves she knows how to survive. Someone like Omid or Christa? How are they doing it? I don't really understand.

Overall, Molly being a badass is why she's alive. So, yeah.

If it has +20 strength and +20 agility, you will survive anything! :D

Ok, let's say she can do all the stunts, but what makes her unbelievable is that she can do it consistently without getting hurt. Someone compared her to Jackie Chan earlier in the thread, but Jackie Chan being a professional stunt performer all his life had suffered numerous injuries within the somewhat controlled setting of a movie set and receiving immediate first class medical treatment.

Heck, I sprained a calf muscle last week on a jog, and I was limping all week with a minor injury.

Now imagine the stuff Molly does in a dangerous city with no medical services. She's pretty much guaranteed minor injuries at the very least and probably some serious ones like Jackie Chan has suffered. And I am pretty sure anyone with a limp is pretty much a walker happy meal in a ZA.

When you consistently get practice in it, you don't get hurt as much, and you're able to play off injuries easier.

  • I liked Molly but I agree that she was a little un-realistic and out of place. However, [not sharing name to prevent spoilers of the comic] surviving a whole zombie horde locked in a room on his own and Michonne with that sword are both also unrealistic. Anyways, Telltale kept Molly in for one episode and her part really only seemed to play a role for these reasons:
    1) Being in a future season of the game (I mean come on, how could they get rid of her that quickly if they don't use her in another episode)
    2) Explaining Crawford
    3) As a way for Clementine and Kenny to get back to the camp safely while Lee had to go through the sewers and meet the cancer survivors

  • Good thing this series os a work of FICTION isnt it yep.

Basically what I said. The guy who knows not to run and jump everywhere is far more likely to make it in a survival scenario; any survival scenario. You're expending more fluids and calories... which is doubly stupid in a place like Georgia due to the climate. I was there for basic at Ft. Benning, #1 concern? Heat injury, and that's with ready, guaranteed access to drinkable water.

Injuries are also going to be basically be a fact of life as a result of running and jumping, and somebody on their own has no support in place when (not if) an injury occurs. Even if they're not immediately eaten by walkers, that leaves modes of death like dehydration since they can't go readily fetch little things like water.

What's Michonne got to do with anything?

'Molly was the one character where TELLTALE stumbled'; not Robert Kirkman.

I know! When I saw her through the telescope I was wtfing!! Her character and magical ninja abilities was wayyy too unbelievable telltale made a big mistake bringing her into the game, she was miles away and was scaling the wall with an ice pick! and you look away from the telescope and she's suddenly right in front of you!! I was double taking so much! They should have toned down on her abilities... And Heidi ... Really?!?

  • Molly isnt that much of a badass.First time you meet her lee kicks her ass then in crawford needs saving again from lee/clem(depending on your choices).I think her best weapon is stealth, agility and free climbing.Which none of these make her "unbelieveable" or farfetched. That guy from where ever free climbs buildings in real life with no equipment. Why cant molly with climbing ax.
