Which games are you currently playing?

basically name a game or more that you are currently playing (or have been recently) and say what you think of it.

Prince of Persia (newest): It is OK, not as good as the last 3, the removal of death as a deterrent is irritating, I wish they had not done it, it seems like a way to appeal to "casuals". I think the combat is dry and repetitive also.

Smash Bros:brawl: Overall an excellent game, however a lot of the mechanics from melee worked better in my opinion

Halo Wars: the best RTS I have played on a console, over simplified compared to PC ones, although that is to be expected. It is a pity Ensemble don't exist anymore

Are you having problems with the timing? If so, looking at a video walkthrough might help, if you haven't done that already.

  • Mass Effect 3 after a replay of ME1-2. Nice to actually own the series this time around, and on PS3 where most of the good DLC is free :D

Oh and multiplayer isn't that bad, rather surprised about it.

Thank you for the suggestion. If I get stuck there again, I'll consult one. I managed to get it in the end by sheer dumb luck.

It's brilliant that there's finally a stable-ish virtual machine that will take Grim Fandango. I wouldn't have even found out if I hadn't been curious enough to check out the blog link in Jennifer's signature. Last I heard was GrimE was being worked on but not stable. Maybe this is a different project, maybe they renamed it, I don't know.

In any case, there are plenty of bugs still to fix, such as switching between full-screen and windowed during cutscenes restarts the cutscenes but out of sync. The most annoying is when Manny refuses to move, which makes me glad of the autosave.

  • I managed to get it to work damn near perfectly on Windows 7. The only glitch was in the third year, where if you started the chain moving and then tried to do anything else, you couldn't get off that part of the map. Luckily, with a bit of planning, you can easily make sure that that's the last thing you need to do.

  • I don't remember if I've played it on my Windows 7 computer yet, but the last time I played it ran pretty well with the GF patch. Haven't tried with ResidualVM yet, but projects like that and ScummVM are pretty awesome in that they make it possible to run the classics on every OS someone bothers to port the client to.

  • Yeah, I used the Quick and Easy installer to get it on my computer because the prepackaged one won't work with Win 7. But everything else, I just used the compatibility settings that come with Windows to get it to work. With XP, I used to have this horrific stuttering problem during the cutscenes... but Win 7 doesn't even have that. It's fantastic.

  • Me and my best friend engaged in some Dead Island Co-op
(Since Magicka was acting up on his PC)

And must I say we had a blast! :D

Buuuutt.... It was mostly due to our shenanigans than the game itself.
(Its not a great game. Not bad, but other games just do it better)

Edit: I think for a long time we thought we was playing Dead Rising instead! XD

  • Started playing Deponia. Pretty fun game so far. Adventure games seem to be just my speed.

  • Super Mario Galaxy 2. Its very mind blowing on how impressive Nintendo makes good video games like this one.
