Right, first post, here goes. Not sure if this is the right place to post it either, but oh well.

I first played and completed TWD just over a week ago now, and loved it! I played it from start to finish in one sitting, and after getting over the ending, I started wondering: Would it have been a different experience, for better or worse, if I have left a month or so between each Episode?

I am asking this because I didn't get to play it when it was coming out, and so I am unsure if it would be better or worse to wait for all episodes to come out and play in one sitting, or play them as they come out and continue as the next one arrives?

  • It would've been even better :)

  • It's better to wait because if you play it in one sitting you don't experiment the cliffhangers because you can just play it straight away

  • I actually got all 5 episodes at once and it took me about a week to finish it. And honestly, I'm glad I didn't get it when the first episode had just come out because then I'd have to wait about 1-2 months for the next episode, which would have driven me crazy. But for this next season, I think you should get them as they come out or else you'll miss out on almost a year of a phenomenal game.

Yeah, that's what I am worried about. That and my atrocious memory. By the time the next episode would have come out, I would need to play through the first to know what's going on.

i have a terrible memory as well, but you would be amazed at what talking about the game on forums can do for your memory, i remember all the names of the characters in the game but i still get the names of my uncles mixed up :)

  • I personally loved waiting a month or two between each episode. You develop more of a relationship between the characters.

  • I preferred playing it over the months, the only downside is you can't wait for the next episode :D

Playing it over time allows you to speculate on what will happen and create a relationship with your survivor group.

  • I agree, waiting over time is better. It allows time to prepare for the next, and gives the company time to make more, and it allows everyone to come together and discuss your choices, your ideas, characters you hate/like, etc. Buying them all, to me, felt like missing a great part of the experience.

But, one of teh things what made this game great was making difficult snap decisions, not being able to plan ahead or really think it through. Also, this is about the merits of waiting for them to come out before playing, not asking the developers to change their release model. And I am worried that, in waiting for the next episodes, I will end up coming to this forum to read posts and discuss etc.., and it will lessen the emotional response I get from the game because I am constantly reminded that these events happened to everyone, and that it is just a game, which breaks the immersion. I'm just worried that I will fuck up and it will not be as good an experience as it could be.

i think everyone has their own perspective on the events that happen in the game, i was actually surprised by how different peoples approach to the same thing can be, but it never changed how i felt about it
