So, I'm at dinner at the farm. I go upstairs, open the closet door and examine everything inside. I hook up the power cord, notice light coming in through the wall. Then, I go into the bedroom and move the bookcase.
Next thing I know, I'm entering whatever room lies behind the bookcase, but my camera never moves. Instead, I'm still looking at the wall with the bookcase on it, and I can't see Lee at all or the room itself. I try walking around, but I can only move a tiny bit, and I can't exit the room behind the bookcase. I try clicking on things, but there's nothing to click on. What's happening? Is there something I should be doing? Is this normal?
(I think I got a bad copy of the game. I'm playing on the PS3, and it skips a lot in the animation, as if the disc is scratched, although it's brand new. Also, sometimes it'll go really dark, to the point where I can't make out any details in my surroundings at all. It'll all just be completely pitch black, so I have to feel my way around. I don't think that's normal either.)

...I gather that after I enter the room behind the bookcase, it's supposed to trigger a cutscene. However, I never see one, so I'm just stuck unable to do anything. Is there any way for me to trigger this cutscene at all? Or is my game itself just faulty?
