Lilly/Larry vs. Kenny

Is it at all possible to side with Lilly/Larry early on, but then still befriend Kenny by the end of the game? It seems that most of the important options that ultimately decide your relationship with Kenny happen before Larry dies/Lilly is gone.

I was just wanting to know if it was an all or nothing situation, or if you can still get on Kenny's good side later if you go the other way.

If by "good side" you mean getting Kenny to volunteer to come with you to find Clem, that's going to be difficult seeing as the three biggest things that seem to affect Kenny's deposition to Lee are standing up to Larry in the drugstore, killing Larry, and dropping Ben.

I have seen a few playthroughs where Kenny comes along on his accord even though the player tried to save Larry, but I don't think it's possible without going against Larry at least once.

That's kind of what I thought. Having only sided with Kenny before, is him coming along on his own accord the only real important thing that changes if you don't side with him?

Trying to save Larry pisses him off pretty bad. He doesn't help you against Danny St. John, in Episode 3 he doesn't help Lee up in the Pharmacy and his tone towards Lee during a lot of that episode is usually pretty combative.

Most of the other stuff tends to be more specific. Things like not looting the car or shooting the girl tend to only come up once or twice each and is then mostly forgotten but not helping him kill Larry causes Kenny to hold one hell of a grudge. He always brings it up in the attic scene over everything else if you didn't help him finish Larry off. :p

OK. That is kind of what I wanted to know. Knowing now that Larry doesn't survive that long into the story, and Lilly leaves no matter what you do kind of makes me want to side with Kenny all the time.

  • Eh that, and the fact that Kenny can actually be a good friend and one hell of a backup. ^

Also, I never liked Larry, and I outright hate Lilly. I love to hate her. So yeah, pro-Kenny, deal with it!

  • Kenny is awesome, but even after realizing that Lilly will always abandon you, i won't kill Larry in the meat locker. It doesn't matter to me whether it has any in-game benefits, but in reality I'd feel terrible. I just can't go against myself like that. Sorry Ken. :(

    Same.

I understand that. The first time I saved Larry, although now I feel bad for Ken, I realized my stupidity(let's face it, Larry wouldn't have made it, and Larry could have just turned when Kenny smashed his head in.) I have an example of a body recently turned that looked perfectly fine. It was in the webisodes; Andrew's wife tried to revive a woman she ran over with her car. The woman/girl turned while she was performing CPR and bit her lip. It was a nasty scene... You just don't know how fast the time-limit is, and Larry is a BIG guy. Lee could barely handle a Travis or a legless teacher, how could he handle a 300 pound man made of muscle without any weapons(except the salt licks)?

I feel bad for Larry even though he kinda deserved it, but I no longer feel sorry for Lilly, and if I had to say I would rub his death in her face? ...I kinda would, just to piss her off.

But I did try to save him, and was disappointed to have Kenny go against me there. I expected him to at least respect my decision, although I know why he did so and was so pissed.

  • Why would you rub her father's death in her face? That's a bit cruel. I helped ice Larry, but I still tried to be nice to Lilly. I even got pissed at Kenny for awhile because of how he was treating her at the start of 3 after what we'd done.

  • Oh I wouldn't have my first playthrough, because I felt bad for her and I tried to keep her sanity. I also defended her when I could, and was sorta in the middle of Lilly and Kenny. However, after she acts like a complete douche to you and everyone else, kills one of my favorite characters(Carley or Doug), rats you out as a murderer to make it not seem so bad for her kill, and then tries to justify killing the person? And then she leaves with the RV, even if you tried to come with her or reason with her? She abandons the only people she had left, to die?

She really goddamn pissed me off, and she had no excuse to kill Carley or try to kill Ben. She had no proof. Also, her temper was something unnecessary and unwanted, and no matter how you act to her, she really is terrible to pretty much everyone, nor was she a great leader.

There is only so much one can take before getting fed up. I never liked Lilly, but I never liked Larry either, and I didn't wish him harm, even for trying to kill Lee(me). Sorta because I could understand it, since he knew Lee's past, and because he was trying to protect his daughter. I do understand how much a prick he could be, but he was tolerable. At least he didn't cause TOO much trouble.

So yeah, I'd rub her face in it, just to make her sad and depressed. What, would she pull a pistol on me? :P Well, that'd be about the thing, and she wouldn't win unless she waited for Lee to turn his back xD. She makes all the excuses that she has the right to do what she wants because her dad died, as if everyone else's family mean't nothing, and that she became immune to everything going on. After experiencing how she can be on certain playthroughs, I just can't stand her, sorry.
