"Whoever owns the rights to Red Faction" is probably what he meant.

  • But the company that bought Red Faction isn't on the verge like THQ was. Why the spooky "while you still can"?

Anyway, don't get the appeal of Red Faction games at all. Get bored outta my mind in the first 10 minutes.

Which, as far as I understand, is still THQ at this point. If it did get sold during the second auction, that doesn't take effect until May.

Oh right, Red Faction was sold on the second auction. I thought it was bought on the first one alongside with Saints Row.

    My bad.

Though, if they're in the process of selling of their assets, can they even legally do things like steam sales?

  • I don't think there is an agreement for every Steam sale on games like these(which routinely go on sale). They just opt into it(X times per year...or however it works with them). As long as it is still being sold in the Steam store, I do believe any previous agreement with Valve would be upheld until the new owners decide otherwise when they are able.

I know the sale times are controlled by Valve and not the publishers, so if there is a standing agreement, then yeah.

There appears to be some kind of publisher control over sales. Kingdoms of Amalur was 60 dollars on Steam for the longest time, because 38 Studios wasn't around to authorize a sale.

  • Yes, they have some control. It's not like one can authorise a sale or price change without the other. I meant that Valve controls prices and times of sales like a retail store. Publishers can lower their asking amount and ask for a price reduction, but ultimately, it's up to Valve. Without this, you'd see a lot of older games(or games by struggling companies) go dirt cheap to milk every penny. They seem to have a fairly constant bottom of $9.99 for triple A and $4.99 for indie.

  • The daily deal is Spreadsheet the game.

Also: LaMulana is now on Steam. If you already own it on Desura or in the Greenlight Groupees bundle you will recieve a free Steam key later. If you own it on CoCK you get nothing. As usual they don't hand out Steam keys.

Posted in February 12 by PLAYISM, in the Greenlight page:
Hello Lamulanites! We still don't have a concrete release date yet but believe me we want to release it as soon as we can and are working hard to make that happen. I do have one piece of unfortunate news to share now that the all of the legal stuff has been settled and taken care of. Although users from PLAYISM and Desura(and GROUPEES of course) will be able to receive Steam keys, GOG does not actually offer Steam keys through their site so users who have bought from GOG will not be able to activate their purchase on Steam. We are really sorry about this but there is not much we can do on our end.

The first one is kinda fun. The second one I cannot get into. Took forever to get into #1 for me too though.
