  • @Ryu-Chan said: I disagree, and I wish Telltale gave him another shot. Although he is the ideal straight man, I find myself laughing at the self-parodying Sam than the eccentric Max. Plus, he can bounce off the characters at the table just as well as he can Max. I just don't want Max delivering the punchline again. He had his chance in Poker Night at the Inventory.

I think you're worrying a bit too much. From what I can tell, Max is there mostly to chime in only on occasion, not every single joke.

  • It's pretty cool that unlocking every poker set for one character grants you new dialog conversations (and possibly other things?) I wonder if the Aperture Inventory is going to involve turrets, uh..."escorting" players out of the tournament.

GLadOS: Test Subject Brock Samson has been eliminated from play.
Brock Samson: DAMMIT! THIS IS SUCH BULLSH-
GLadOS: And will now be implemented with 700 pounds of lead.
    Brock Samson: ...wait, what?

"Xanadence Jones, Amateur Ace" confirmed for one of the new poker titles too! Neat.

By the way, do you guys plan on making a pre-loader on Steam? That'd be cool.

Can't wait for Tuesday! Good trailer, Telltale.

  • @Jake said: Fair. For what it's worth, Sam is mostly solo -- he's the one at the table! -- but Max is there for the assist when needed.

    I hope that's not a new hint system >_<

@Jake said: 3. Sam does not work that well in solo.

Actually, I found Sam's "noir" sequences in They Stole Max's Brain to be really compelling and amusing. I think that it probably takes more effort to get Sam working well on his own, but he's definitely got the depth for it.

    Nope. Just for jokes sometimes.

The Devil's Playhouse ended up being one of my favorite Sam and Max stories because it focused so heavily on Sam. I feel like at the end of the day, Season Three was really Sam's story.

Sam alone also provides some of my favorite moments in the comics, like the middle of Bad Day on the Moon.

    That's what I expected ^_^

Ah, at the risk of further derailing the thread, such comments make me long to go on another adventure with those two.

Funny thing about perspectives is that I find it more like Max's story. For example compared to first and second season when it comes to games, he takes a away bigger role of being useful during the season 3's cases.

Not to mention that you spend more time actively controlling him. I totally see what Jake is say though - Sam's journey across season 3 is a lot deeper than Max's.

  • So I just decided to pause randomly in the vid to see what I find. Anyone notice that the challanges are a bit... not normal? "Buy Drinks for 3 or more players" for instance...

We can get them drunk confirmed.

Well, considering there's a challenge where "Win A Pot Where 2 Players Are In Love", I doubt those are ALL real...

On the other hand, Mad Moxxi does serve drinks to people (like Ash in the trailer), so maybe?
