Public Relations Manager

Telltale Public Relations drives communications of the company with the editorial, fan and business communities. The Public Relations Manager will lead both strategic planning for press communications (working with Marketing, Web and Senior Management), as well as daily contact with gaming, enthusiast, and mainstream press: coordinating coverage, distributing review copies, arranging interviews and in-person demos, distributing assets, answering questions, and serving as a reliable, approachable, and helpful contact the press can turn to for any information they may need. Public Relations is also responsible for maintaining and building Telltale’s press database, creating press and marketing materials (press releases, asset discs, fact sheets, etc.), planning and participating in press events, and coordinating Telltale's trade show presence.

Unlike some game companies with only a few big game releases each year, Telltale typically releases a new game episode at least once a month and periodically has multiple series running concurrently. The PR Manager must be team-oriented, organized, detail-oriented, and able to work quickly in a fast-paced environment with multi-disciplinary groups.
  • Responsibilities
    • Work with marketing and web teams to develop and execute public relations plans for new series announcements, game launches, and ongoing outreach efforts – with a specific focus on online
    • Serve as day-to-day liaison between press and company
    • Write and distribute press releases, media alerts, and other company statements
    • Pitch and facilitate interviews, review/preview articles, and other press coverage
    • Create and distribute corporate collateral, review materials, and game assets
    • Maintain and build press database
    • Set up and attend trade shows, press appointments, press events and game demos
    • Manage PR agency and other third-party vendors to ensure cost effectiveness and efficient execution of initiatives
    • Work with internal departments to ensure consistency and clarity of communications
    • Assist with creation of community assets such as blogs, newsletters, and forums
    • Assist with marketing, publishing, and web initiatives as needed
  • Essential Skills and Experience
    • Enthusiastic about video game / entertainment industry; experience with episodic / downloadable games strongly desired
    • Experienced in planning and executing product launches
    • Specialized experience with online outlets – online press vehicles, blogs, social networking media
    • Excellent written, verbal and inter-personal communication skills; able to tailor written materials to a variety of audiences (business-oriented, press, customer / community, etc.)
    • Outgoing, assertive, pro-active PR ace, with high energy for pitching, pursuing and securing best placements – high quantity, quality and consistency
    • 2-5 years experience in public relations, 1 or more of these years in video games or entertainment categories desired
    • Able to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities while achieving launch goals
    • Strong problem-solving, budgeting and cost analysis skills and decision-making ability
    • Proven track record working collaboratively in a team environment
    • Conscientious and reliable with strong time management skills
    • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Photoshop (experience with Acrobat, InDesign, and Premiere a plus)
    • Able to manage internal and external personnel and projects with attention to detail and strong organizational and multitasking skills
