I really like 'Sam and Max' and 'Monkey Island'. Love adventure games. Very cool.
My one major complaint is the puzzles always seem really illogical and you end up using items that make no sense!
I can't get 10 minutes into these games without referring to a walk through. Kind of sucks IMO.
Am I just stupid or do others feel the same?

The old ones or the new ones?
If you're talking about the original games from the 1990s, then no, you're not alone. Some of those games had some very twisted, brain-bending puzzles, even at the beginning.
If you're talking about the newer games by Telltale, then yes, you are alone. So very alone.

The new ones are too easy. I like a few brain benders in my games. It sounds like you are suffering from learned helplessness. Don't be so quick to go to the walkthrough or hints.

I tend to think that after Mist there was an era of ridiculously complex game solutions. However, in most of the newer adventure games there usually tends to be only one or two solutions that I find absurd. And I'm willing to accept that from the writers, provided the rest of the game is top-notch, which I generally find to be the case with Telltale.
What's more likely is that you have developed a syndrome I've seen in a lot of gamers I know that I like to call "Walkthrough dependency." Because the truth is if you go to the walkthrough after ten minutes you haven't tried enough objects on enough other random objects/people, or returned to enough places, people, etc to retry things to find things that have changed. Figuring out the puzzles can sometimes just mean trying everything you have the option of trying, not just the logical options.
