events done in wrong order??

Ok,

so i have got up to the part where I have managed to steal the boat by blowing the existing captain off the boat

now i know that i need to get into the bar with a card that is obtained from the socks on the line, however I did not click on them before putting the bomb in the undies and getting the captain off the boat.

now the socks are gone (along with the pulley)

is there any other way to get the card? or do i have to start again??

Wow, that's a really interesting bug! Do you have an old save game you could revert to? If not I guess you'll have to start again!

I assume you still can't go into the bar? I'm wondering if the game will presume you already got the card out of the sock and let you in anyway.

IIRC, check on the floor or near the barrel you use to climb to the line. It should be there.

Just started the game from the beginning right now, just to try that out, and there is no bug.
If you blow the captain off the deck, the sock with the card in it will be on the wooden boxes you used to climb up to the clothes line, so even if you do this task first, you still can get in to the club 41.
Just look for the sock on the crates near the pole on the deck, in front of the ship.
