Can u please release the game on the 20th and not the 21st. America is like 16 hours behind the rest of the world so the whole world sees the 20th and we then get annoyed that we are not able to download the episode till 1am on the 21st!

Here is an idea - u release it at 12am (ie the very morning) on the 20th and then the rest of the world will actually get the game on the 20th and not the next day

How do u like them apples?

Its not rocket science!

What a stupid thing to say.

"America is like 16 hours behind the rest of the world" haha, what?! That's correct, every other country in GMT+0 except America which is GMT-16.

They specified the time zone FFS! If your too stupid to work out when that will be for you then its not their fault.

16 hours???? what???

12 at most I think

And they do release it at the same time.... if they would do it at the same time clock-wise, Americans would be really P.O-ed and it would be a hell of a job to unlock each timezone manually

As far as i'm aware it's still the 20th in most places, isn't it?

Is this really the place for this discussion? Seems to be getting awfully close to country bashing on a discriminating level.

As for the release: as has been siad before, they said it would be american time when released (cause Telltale is in the US), so the rest of the world (including me) will just have to wait. Boohoohoo...get over it.

American company.

American game.

American timezones.

American release time.

It'd be like complaining to Square Enix, Atlus? or something that the Japanese get their games first, and how unfair it is that America and Europe have to wait a little longer (meh Europe usually a LOT longer) ¬_¬

Ahoy De Fancypants
08/20/2009, 05:25 am
America gets most games months ahead of us in Europe, so I don't see why you guys are complaining over the pond... It's only afew hours between for this one, I know I'm grateful for that!

Telltale is an American company, thus it runs off American time. To think otherwise is conceited and hypocritical.

This is not a case of "America thinks it rules the world," it's just life. Deal with it!

They should just specify date, time and timezone for next release.
Everyone can do their own math for local time.

It's not difficult to work out that it may be later for you.

The OP is giving non-Americans a bad name.

Geez, they even specified the time zone. If you're so cranky, just assume it will be out on the 21st and don't check until then. You can't blame them, they gave a date an a time zone. They didn't say "On the 20th, internationally" (like it's even possible. It's never the same day everywhere in the world) they said "on the 20th PST". PST is GMT - 8 if you didn't know.

It's only 6:30 for them right now, give them some more time.

And if you're upset about timezones you should complain to the Earth for being round. Stupid Earth.

Everyone here has one thing better to do & one thing only. I think you're a smart enough chap to work out what that one thing is.

Seeing as we aren't able to to that, people will spend their time here moaning & complaining about how they can't do that thing yet.

It really isn't that surprising & quite frankly, totally expected. It's still early yet & I've not even started yet. You wait til it's 6pm here & we're all still here waiting. It will be chaos! I'm sure Telltale couldn't have hoped for a better compliment to their game than this type of rabid frenzy. Now stfu, stop taking everything so seriously & play along Guybrush. This is the internet after all. :)

QFT. I always add a day on to American releases because of the time difference. A world-wide release you say? Well, that's what happens! The EU version isn't 'delayed' - it's all the same version, released at exactly the same time!

Telltale has never (correct me if I'm wrong) given an exact time for any of their releases. The reasoning is that they want to do a last check of the game the day of and be ready with support in case something does go wrong with release. They are being really reasonable giving an exact day even, as they will be running around like chickens with their heads cut off getting it ready for us to make the deadline. That's how a digital release works when you do it yourself, they give it to us when it's ready. What the cranky people don't realize is that the digital releases they are used to (Steam, et all) actually have the finished product beforehand and can then make an exact time for release.

That's when it came out last time PST. A lot of people were saying the same thing then when ppl were moaning about it not being out. "they want to be in the office for support". Then they released it at 6pm PST, around the time they probably all leaving the office.

Truth is, TT love these rabid frenzies. Much like shops enjoy having a crazy sale & making all the rabid shoppers que up outside before letting them all in to go crazy. It's a great compliment to your product & it's great advertising.

Anyone who thinks it's anything else is deluded.

After spending a very productive day i thought I'd check in and see if chapter 2 had been released yet. Nothing as yet but hey, i've got some friends coming over dinner later so instead i'll get busy in the kitchen, cook some food get some beers in, eat, drink and perhaps have a blast on mario cart with everyone, a few rounds of scrabble maybe a game of trivial pursuit. After all this i'll probably check again tomorrow on my day off and see if there's a chance to get some monkey island action on, if not ill get on with all the other things i have to do. If its sunny maybe ill give some friends a call, go down to the park and get some frisbee on, fly a kite, host a weenie roast, the possibilities are endless. Lets all just enjoy our lives and be happy that eventually we'll get to play the games we love when they're available and when we have some free time :)

Have a lovely day everyone, hope you all enjoy whatever it is your doing.

Haha, actually, we encountered a last minute bug that we didn't want to ship with. Fortunately since we were releasing the game during the day, Pacific time, the entire drc team was in the office to fix the problem. If we had been releasing at an earlier hour (AKA the middle of the night for us) we would have had to delay anyway, because we would have run into that bug but nobody would be awake to fix it. We release during daylight hours in our own time zone for a very practical reason: that's when we're all awake.

They won't be fixing glitches on release day. The latter is far more likely.

Telltale, you've made a brilliant series with more positives than I can even mention in the character limit, but if you get an award for anything it should be for calmly putting up with ridiculous threads like. :p

Perhaps some sort of time-zone map on the front page would be in order? Anyone who thinks America is sixteen hours behind... "the world", clearly needs some help.

Or maybe some sort of restrictive white jacket.

16 hours???? what???

12 at most I think

Way more than 12 at most - don't forget that GMT+12 and GMT-12 are in the Pacific. Hawaii is like 21 hours behind the far east point of Asia.

However since I can't find "the rest of the world" on my map I am unable to say whether it is 16 or 12 hours ahead of "the America timezone". ;)

That's the nice thing about Digital download companies... last minute literally means "Last minute." The build of chapter one that you played was probably not even 10 minutes old when they released it.

Now if they would have gone and given a date that was 24 hours later than when they planned to release it, then you all would complain that it was released without your knowing... then you would expect all their games to come a day early... and get cranky when they are not...

They said August 21st during PST and thats when it was released... they fulfilled their promise (although they probably should have also noted "during daylight business hours" and not given the indication of a possible midnight release)

The real problem here is impatience... *Suspiciously eyeballs the 500 "I want my game NAO!!!1!" threads from yesterday*

SHODANFreeman

A number of Telltale employees have said an infinite amount of times that they always release games while they are in the office, because if something goes wrong, they're there to fix it right away.

I don't know why this keeps coming up, people are impatient/insane.

Avistew

People on the Internet like to complain.

It's the same with webcomics for instance. You're better off having a schedule that's way too slow for you and updating at midnight that day than having a "as soon as it's ready" schedule, even if you end up updating twice as often.

Not that you'll be perfectly fine with the set schedule, either. People will complain that you're lazy and make a list of webcomics that update more often than yours.

I think the "not knowing" aspect gets to people. They just wait, and wait, and feel like they've been stood up or something. If you have a set date, even if it's in a long time, you tend to feel less angry because you feel less helpless.

Impossible3144

...Do people saying stupid nonsense about the release time not realise that everyone in the world gets it at the SAME time? This is such moronic whining, and this is coming from someone who lives in Australia and has to wait until the next day to play each episode. Who CARES? You didn't have to wait for any longer because of your time zone. If they had announced the release date as the 21st, and released it exactly when they did, would that somehow make you happier? No, it would just be stupid because Telltale are an American company, and they wouldn't announce a release date that's wrong for them.
