I've just downloaded Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 1 via Steam, but I'm having trouble running it. The game launches fine, though I did notice that the notification that Steam gives you about using the Friends system was replaced with a box with a green to red gradient.
Once it gets to the title screen, there is no cursor and all the text is replaced with more semi transparent green and red boxes.
I attached a screenshot of the problem and here's the info from dxdiag:

I've tried running it from a clean boot to no effect, so any other tips as to what might be causing this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
