How do I eat the pepper? I can pick it up with my hook but I don't know what Guybrush should be eating to make his tongue impervious....

If you dont have the pepper yet you cant use it since it gets locked

Now what do I do with that blasted red idol?

When you get to the red idol unfold the left pieces of the map, and a hidden trail will appear on it. Follow it.

Finished the game, thanks you guys! :)

I don't think the pepper shows up until you need it (task 3) but it's on the right-hand side of the bar (opposite from the dartboard/barkeep).
