Dimensional rift caused by demon trying to conquer the universe. Multiple portals connecting spirit realm to reality. That sort of thing...

Definitely a Loom vibe. All we needed was a giant scythe and a distaff.

I LOVED the Loom reference/paralel/thing!
Loom was my first game EVER! It was...heartwarming to see that. :D

Seems appropriate in a way, the first time I heard of Loom was from the advertisement in SoMI... :D

Yes, the parralells to the ending sequence in Loom was pretty obvious. So much so, that I was actually convinced I would have to go and close all the holes one by one.

I felt totally reminded of Loom the second Guybrush's spell tore a rip in the Crossroads! Loved it! :)

Aye, I got Loom feelings from the going back to places I'd been to earlier that are now trashed, on fire and generally not safe. Though you only had to resurrect yourself this time, not everyone else.

It made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.. only thing missing was a swan... but at least we got a seagull.

I really should play Loom, because it might make me want to play something else. The Dig made me want to play Space Quest 5.

The Dig made me want to play Space Quest 5.
That's funny because Runaway made me want to play Russian roulette.
