Inconsistency in Chapter 5?

So, I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this, but as a ghost, Guybrush gets his hand back. However, everyone else in the afterlife who lost a bodypart in life, ie The Swordmaster's head, the Treasure Hunter's midriff, and the Thief's hands, remain missing in their ghostly forms. Why was Guybrush the only one who retained his disembodied organ back as a ghost?

Maybe those three only count because it caused their death. (Would have been cool if Morgan walked around with a sword stuck in her stomach.)

Well, the swordmaster still had his head, even though it wasn't attached. Maybe Guybrush just taped his hand on while we weren't looking? :D

I'm not too worried about inconsistencies like that, though. If we get too nitpicky, then we have to go into why we can see through Guybrush's jacket and not his pants. And I don't really want to go there.

Well, when you put it that way, not only is it why can we see through his shirt and jacket but not his pants, but why is it that we can see his uncovered flesh, but his see-through clothes show us his bones, like fabric x-rays or something?

Speaking of which, why are you shying away from his pants? Are you afraid of pelvic bones or something?

No, actually, if you look at him from behind, because of the low cut of his jacket you actually CAN see his pelvic bone. And I am rightly scandalized! j/k

EDIT: I just realized how creepy this is making me sound. I'm not checking out Guybrush's sexy pelvic bone. Honest. Sexy thing. MMmmmm. Not checking it out.

chances are good that the thief didnt die from losing his hands. I understand it was (and still is) a common punishment in some parts of hte world.

Perhaps it's a will thing. Once you die you can shapeshift however you desire if you ahve the will to. Therefor guybrush really wanted his hand back and he got it back. If he _really_ wanted to be an iguana he would become an iguana...

Actually, it's not that rare to die from it. I mean, not saying he did, but unless the stumps were also burnt to cauterize them, it's quite likely to die from blood loss due to having your hand cut off.

About the OP: maybe your appearance depends on other things. Guybrush still held on to his life force thingie, so maybe he wanted to still be alive, most likely with his hand, while the others had accepted death (and their injuries).
Or maybe you can see the others' injuries but not your own or something.
Or maybe it's because his hand was still alive, albeit not attached (I can't remember if it dies in chapter 4 or runs away).
Or maybe it's because the hook wasn't dead so it couldn't make it to the afterlife.

It runs away... Scary thoght... what if it returns on it's own! There's a fun twist for ToMI S2!

and if dead items didnt make it to the afterlife everyone wold be naked. Also the sword guy wouldnt have had the sword in his head.

Eheh, sorry about that. Couldn't resist dragging up my finest crackpot theory. Anyway, Guybrush's hand was alive the last time we saw it, though I'm of the belief that it died when the pox was cured. Maybe ghost Guybrush has it because he and his hand died within a close enough time period?

If you look closly, the voodoo lady has his still-poxed hand at the end of the credits.


Also, there is a very logical explanation for Guybrush having his hand in the afterword.

The question is not whether or not Guybrush's pants are made of lead, but why Superman is trying to see underneath his clothes in the firstplace!

May one ask where that scan of LeChuck is from? I've never seen it. It looks like it's part of an (interesting-seeming) article in a gaming magazine or something.
