View Full Version : BANANG!! - TTG's Company Running Gag?

Zeek

I found a YouTube video of ToMI's Banang! gag, and in its description it said that this is TTG's company running gag in all their games.

Any truth to that? I doubt Banang has appeared in Strong Bad or Wallace & Grommit since it was introduced in Sam & Max: Season 2.

Don't know. I only remember it in Sam and Max season 2 and TOMI. Is it an official Telltale video or is it fan-made? If it's official then maybe it'll become a running gag in the near future, otherwise it's probably untrue.

It's only appeared in the games Telltale have made since its conception (CSI excepted, it's a bit too silly for that), so it may be a new running gag. If it crops up in The Devil's Playhouse, then it may well be.

I hope so, it's a fun word to say. Ba-NANG!

EDIT: Ooo, post 400. Go me.

It's only been in Season 2 and Monkey so far, so I'm not sure you could really call it a running gag yet.

It would become a running gag if you put it in S&M season 3! At least by my standards…

On the S2 DVD, there's a secret alternate Banang Ending-if you know how to find it.

I assume they are referencing Tang (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tang_%28drink%29) On a related note my wife's brother's name is Teng and growing up he would often get teased about this beverage.

Bananas are the most marvelous fruit in existence. But if they're gonna be drinkified, cream or milk must be involved. I would be dubious of a real world Tang-esque incarnation if it's preparation is anything like actual Tang.

Doesn't make the Banang gags themselves any less brilliant, of course. :D

Yes, yes, more yes.

And where I live people don't like bananas. When there is a new product that's banana flavored, commercials that advertise the other varieties of the product never shows the banana flavored one. It's like companies are ashamed of having it. There is that ice cream commercial which goes like "all flavors you enjoy! chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and nuts!" Bitch, banana is the best of them.

And we don't have Nesquik banana here. Because they think noone will drink it. This land is fucking cursed.

While nothing will beat the original Sam & Max Banang gag in Season Two, the Banang gags in The Devil's Playhouse (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=-nGhCuzcu6A) are pretty funny too (complete with a Team Fortress 2 reference to boot). :D

I haven't played all the way through it yet to be honest. I liked Sam and Max, but my favorite series from TTG was Tales of Monkey Island. It got alot of people I know interested in the series . Which is a good thing. :)

It's in a lot of their games, but not all of them. It's a popular gag with the Telltale staff though, and season one already found a way to fit it in-universe as has been stated, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it pop up in season two too.

I played a few Telltale games before TWD and i still never knew what it was before visiting the forum. I also happen to miss things in the background very easily(for example, i never notice typos in the subtitles even though there are a few) so maybe that's my fault there.

If you're curious on how banang originated and what games it has been in, the Sam & Max wiki has a page on banang (http://www.samandmax.net/wiki/Banang) that explains things pretty well.

1) I do believe the cameo was inside the car. A bottle of it appeared in the cup holder next to the gear stick, IIRC.

2) There's alternate endings on the Season 2 DVD? Ooo, fun.

It's one of those blink and you'll miss it kind of things. It's in Citizen Brown (http://www.the-adventuress.com/2013/02/citizen-brown-injokes.html). When Marty jumps in the recycle bin and falls into the confiscated goods intake bin, some of the goods pop up out of the bin. A banang bottle is one of them.

2.How do i find the alternate endings on the S&M Season 2 DVD?
They're hidden in the menu. Just go up and down on the selections and press left or right through the options until it highlights a section of the background. That will open up an easter egg.
