if they make one of book 3 then they have to do the other seven (excluding book 3)

1.No need for the excluding book 3 part
2.No they don't, Sam and Max the animated series did one of the episodes based on a comic book, and they didnt have to redo the other ones(or else that would have been a cheep series unless it would have been a season and then back to the series)
